Unfortunately, Internet message boards are, with too few exceptions, heavily, though certainly not exclusively, populated by bitter people who build themselves up by tearing others down. Whether it's jealousy over another person's success, a perceived slight against a self-identified group, or good old-fashioned insecurity, harping on the same tired points or using the same juvenile nicknames seems to make folks feel better about themselves. TVNewsTalk.net has elevated that sad state of affairs to a whole new level of petty jealousy in some of the diatribes that are way over the top.
To address the moment in question, the people carping on the other board seem to be ignoring context. If someone from the "outside" watch some moments of how my co-workers and I tease each other on a daily basis, even in hard times, they would--wrongly--assume we were ready to kill one another. People have ways of relating to one another that a few seconds of on-air banter simply cannot show. Being able to laugh with one another through some of the worst of what life throws at you is the mark of friendship, not insensitivity.
