Gary Sutton - York Revolution analyst

The York Revolution, and WSBA I assume, have named Gary Sutton as the sidekick baseball analyst. So, he's hosting a 9 a.m. - 12-noon show and moonlighting on baseball games. Where did he get all of this baseball knowledge? Is this another move to keep his name before the public? ;)

This does seem a little odd. Great basketball analysis as well as football. Baseball is a whole other thing. But it is a great way for him to promote his talk show.....which is probably the real reason for doing this.

Oh great! Another sport Gary can ruin by pretending he knows something about it. I heard him do soccer for PCN. He proved he knows nothing about soccer, making obvious statements and never sharing any real insight. He knows basketball, but is ALWAYS way too technical in his commentary. Not only that. It was "interesting" listening to him do state playoff basketabll games for PCN. Listen to Gary long enough and there's always a point where he stops talking about the actual game (for several minutes at a time) and goes down some road that has nothing to do with the game he supposed to be commenting on. It's like he gets bored with the game and decides to talk about another game that happened at another time. I'll give Gary one thing. With people in this area letting him get away with it, he could cover any sport. When a team scores a goal Gary says, "They score!" When a wrestler's hand is raised Gary says, "He wins!" Now that's engaging commentary! As for covering the York Revolution: Gary will probably talk down to the York College graduate doing the play-by-play. That kid already knows a thousand times more about baseball than what Gary will BS that he knows about the sport. Now the only trick is for Gary to insert right wing rhetoric (that he thinks everyone wants to hear) into his commentary. If there's a fly ball hit to left field, Gary can say, "The Liberals will love that!" But the craft wreaths he makes and sells are pretty. He could talk about that when there's a lull in a game!

Thing is, baseball is the only sport where the fence plays an integral part. Since Gary Sutton's talk show is nothing more than three hours of fence-sitting, this seems to be oddly appropriate.

My guess is that YOU "HARDCORE" have never done anything on air to contribute anything positive to broadcasting in the Central Pa. area? [EDIT]

[EDIT-namecalling]

3 posts....3 slams. Me thinks you need to let the rest of us know what exactly you have done to be such an expert.

It doesn't matter what we've done. None of us has said we'd be great baseball analysts. We just know Gary is going to be, well, Gary....meaning overbearing, uninteresting, always focusing on the wrong thing. Do we have to draw you a picture. Or do we have to prove that we've drawn a picture in the past to prove we are worthy of drawing a picture?

Such venom. You seem to have such knowledge that one might thing you are one of the departed from Susquehanna Plaza, Jockstar.....

It's funny to note that anyone who seems to have inside knowledge about a radio topic, MUST be a former employee of a radio outlet. If we were former employees we'd be busy putting the past far behind us...unlike some once some former employees who sat around for 2 1/2 years hoping to get hired back. That's pathetic.

"3 posts....3 slams. Me thinks you need to let the rest of us know what exactly you have done to be such an expert."

In two words: I've listened.

OK, so I finally heard Gary on the air with the play-by-play guy (who sounds fine and is doing a good job) Monday night, June 4th between 9:30 and 10 o'clock. Within the first 30 seconds he proved this is going to be quite an annoying adventure: Example: Gary was talking about the Yankees and asked, "Who doesn't has some kind of a Yankees hat?" Are you kidding me? Only the millions upon millions of people who despise the Yankees don't have Yankees hats. I had to go ino Walmart and 30 minutes later when I came out, guess what? Gary was still talking about the Yankees. Gary, if you're reading this: How about telling us about the new ballpark? People want to know about that. (You can brag how you know all the Revolution officials.) How about updating us on the parking situation? How about telling us what opening night is going to be like? How about providing some general info about the Atlantic League? Those are the kinds of things sidekicks talk about. But that's right....Gary is no sidekick. He knows it all. Just ask him.
