Do stations in southern Illinois still run spots for gas trades? For a sales rep or manager who might line one up? For example, a gas trade with Billie's 66 on the corner in Culp?
When I did sales for 'CIL-FM in Franklin, Williamson and Perry Counties, I had a trade with a Phillips 66 in West Frankfort! "Culp"....I could tell you a good story of a side road in Culp, with a blonde, full moon and a bottle of "Blue Nun"... But, I don't think I ever got gas there.. Only a pop or grape drink..... Oh' the wasted days of youth....That was the back super-two-lane from DeSoto(DuMorac's) to Herrin(Where most of the girls I dated were from)....I'd also run up the county road from 13, north (leaving Coo-Coo's or Beefmasters) and hit the Culp Road on my way thru Hurst/Bush and on to DuMorac's in DeSoto....Then drive to my house from DeSoto to the north end of Murphysboro (I would witness 'flies' swarming around "The Caberet" at the Murphysboro junction)!
