gatesway80 questions

hi; i just got a gatesway 80 and i have a few questions. first off how is the best way to clean it up? has years of tape and stickers all over it. i would like to paint it, what color gray should i use and what is the best way to paint? also the vu meter is faded real bad, where could i get a better one? and finally whrere would i buy new color inserts for the pot knobs? any information is appreciated, thanks ray.

Clean off the old Dymo lables and remove the glue using lighter fluid works well. The shade of tan/gray I found was a krylon brand of spray paint. If you decide to re-paint...the aluminum plates come off the front as do all of the pots and switches. As for the colored disks on the knob....I just used up the last of the aluminum original ones. I took one to a local sign shop and they were able to make up as many I want in the standard colors out of vinyl. The meter was made by Modutec. Since it is not rear lit, you could just print out a new scale and cover it over. I think I have a jpeg scan of that scale.

Hope that helps

Lane

Goo Gone will do wonders to take all those stickers and left over stickies. WD-40 will do it to stuff that's not real bad. Goo Gone should NOT be left on for an extended period of time!
