Gator?

Maybe Gator Country beats Froggy I still do not get why. And like CC will see their strategic move to Gator as a major threat. I don't think listeners really care what the station is called, they want to be entertained, and they want to hear their favorite music that is all they want. The formula for success is closely tied to personalities, music and programming. Besides, frogs are nice and gators eat people. LOL Although Gator does well in Ft. Myers, it might be a bonehead decision in Jacksonville, because of the strong LOVE-HATE relationship between the Jaguars and Gators. Besides, why spend 4 weeks promoting the new 99.9 Froggy then change to Gator. Over the years, Froggy had built strong brand recognition in Jacksonville and was trending up without even trying.
If starting over is their goal, then flush the name and flush the format all at once too, why flush a recognizable name and keep the format the same?

It is like KOOL, still running on automatic pilot! Why not make your first best impression guns blasting with both barrels out of the box!

Also heard the PD for WQIK & Rooster was shipped out to make way for new fresh blood.

Well, uh, I am not sure about a huge LOVE-HATE relationship between the Jaguars and the Gators, since the Jags are NFL and the Gators are college. Perhaps your point may have been better relating to the Seminoles and Gators, or Bulldogs and Gators, but I havent heard of any LOVE-HATE relationship involving the Jags and Gators...Did I miss something here? Besides, a better station is a better station. It doesnt matter what you call it, and Gator is still better than Rooster, and I think can hang with QIK. But time will tell.

Renda sometimes does some knee-jerk things, but occasionally he will stick with something and see it through. Gator Country in Ft Myers was in the ratings basement until they really got their act together. It started with Jim and Val on mornings in the late 90's and they've had a pretty good staff since then too....always getting out and doing worthwhile things that count in the SW FLorida area. If they can bring some of that attitude to this GATOR, I don't think the moniker will matter much. If it's a good station once it gets up to 100%, it could do ok.
