Gavin is out as well...

If spittle is gone, it can only be a good thing, the guy was a cancer. He took two stations down the toliet and got what he deserved with CBS managment. I hope whomever is managing KRLD and KLLI now will take these stations in the right direction.

One can only hope. He seemed promising but then destroyed mornings with 2 shows lost P&K, BDH got a syndication deal and all Gavin did was kiss Russ Martins ass. That and a nickle got him right where he is now. I bet both Gavin and Russ' young girlfrinds move on now! Too Funny.

I would trust radioandrecords.com before I trust Robert Philpot's blog:

<"Gavin Spittle, who will serve as program director of the station, says, "A successful sports radio station is built on the dialogue its hosts have with the listeners. And there's no question that the Fan will spark some great sports debates. Dallas/Fort Worth residents are passionate about sports -- now they have a bigger and better venue to share their opinion.">

A bunch of hosts who cant carry shows so they will rely on tons of idiotic phone calls

I stand corrected... I saw that on radio online.

Gavin did not make an appearance on Ben and Skin to take all his acclamades. We wont here his voice on air for along time. I imagine he will quietly disappear....if he already hasnt ::)

lol

Gavin aint going anywhere. As much as people like to talk smack on here about him, he's still one of the most sought-after talk radio PDs in the country.

Its so hard for you isnt it Gavin or Eric or Sam or the janiter or whoever you try to be......keep trying, its entertainment for us all :D

I have to agree with 5515 though, just because YOU all think that he has been horrible at the radio stations he has programmed doesn't mean that he isn't sought after in other markets.

Unless your Gavin Spittle HOW would anyone know that Gavin isn't wanted anywhere else.

Outlaw, horrible at ALL the stations he has programmed? I didnt say that. If your going to comment on my statement please read it first. I know it kills you that Russ is gone but you will get over it, Adios Russ!!! :D

Watch for The Fan to become a powerhouse in sports when they make a bid for the Dallas Cowboys (Jerry loves the FM, baby) and, could it be, the Dallas Stars?

Gavin isn't as crazy as some would like to think.

I never said you said it. I didn't even mention you. I was agreeing with what 5515 said.

I liked Russ, but I'm still a 105.3 listener first. I have more friends in Jagger and B&S shows more than I did in Russ's show.

Follow your own advice and read my statement before commenting please.

Hmmm,,, An FM "powerhouse", staffed by TICKET re-jects. Ben and Skin, K Scott, and Ben Stein. ::)

I doubt I will listen. Unless they can get Expo, Rocco, Greggo and a few other former Ticket employees
to come on and spill the dirt, I just don't need another generic sports station.

Good luck, FAN

The Stars either have 3 more years with WBAP or the just signed a new deal with them.

Yes Jerry Jones loves FM, and Blue Star Media may opt out of the 5 year deal with KTCK/KDBN. You have to factor in what does Jones likes, getting a straight rights fee or owning the radio rights. Having studied the issue and seeing first hand how it works for the Rangers/Stars and Mavericks, owning the radio rights is the better deal. You can sell more packages to your corporate sponsors. The Rangers, Stars and Mavericks bundle all the signage, tv and radio spots. Now it works better in those sports because of the amount of inventory they have to sell. But listening to Cowboys Game Day and all the various Cowboys related programming, it seems its working just fine. Don't think The Ticket will give up being the flagship of the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network. If it takes moving the FM flagship to KPLX, then I am sure they will do it. Hell they could put the games on all the stations in the Cumulus Nation.

Salem, I can't remember, is this the 3rd year of the contract with Cumulus for Jerry?

I'll have to check that out with regard to the Stars as well. Seems to me this was the final year with WBAP.

Thanks for your imput.

It is the 3rd year of the deal. There are rumors that there is an opt out after this season. If that is true, then the Cowboys have a decision to make. Like I said in my earlier post, does Jones want a straight rights deal or does he like the fact of owning the radio rights. Its that simple. From the past CBS does more straight rights deals than barter deals. We just have to see if the Cowboys do opt out and if CBS will pony up the money for the Cowboys. I will say this, when KRLD renewed with the Rangers, KRLD did not pay as much in previous deals. I saw the contract and I did the sent the invoices over to KRLD when I worked for the Rangers.

Jerry definitely wants a stronger signal and 105.3 is it. Sounds to me as if some savvy folks have been drolling over this like master chess players for a considerable period of time.

I'd sure like to know what's up on WBAP and the Stars though.

Anyone know for sure?

I hope they stay with Cumulus....Knowing Dan Bennett, they are not going to just let the Cowboys walk out the building without a fight.
