Gay fans tune out

No, I am not talking about ratings for the relativly new 103.9 Proud FM, a gay radio station in Toronto.

Instead, I'm refering to a song that aired recently on the new Virgin 999 FM

"A popular Toronto radio station's parody of metrosexual men has gay listeners changing the dial..."

Source: http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2008/10/23/7172061-sun.html

I wonder if upsetting the gay listeners will cause any decrease in ratings for Virgin radio...

they should - ( every one has a "should in place") but,
they should - slowly...change it to VR99.
(virgin Radio,99.9) its all there, just a slicker way of
saying it.... vr.99 (if u prefer)

It could be that Astral radio might not want to be associated with a former tv station in any way.

Here's an example:

Currently, this tv station is known simply as "A", but it once was once known as "VR"

They paid a ton of money to use that name. I doubt you'll see any short forms.

paid a ton of money ( for whaaaat ?)

From what i have read:
the UK station is no more...
Now, i understand the "fee" for the use of a brand-name,
but the question is why?
