It's not a clock radio, but I have a plain vanilla GE AM-FM radio which I started using in 1984. I don't know how long my father had it before that. I replaced it a few years ago because the switch that would change it from AM to FM was broken and sometimes I'd get stuck on one or the other. I still use it for FM and it does a really good job even with stations that are close to other stations in frequency. Not as good as my car radio which has a digital display, but good enough.
The new radio I got I use for AM, and for FM on vacation. It's a Radio Shack brand and also really good, but they don't make the style any more. Both of these have what looks like wood but isn't on top.
