Geller to....Raleigh??

From today's R&R on-line:

Changes at WDCG (G105)/Raleigh: Midday dude Brian Thomas exits, and APD/MD/night guy Brody moves up to middays. Morning ringmaster Bob Dumas reups for "years to come" and is joined by new co-host Kristin, who's inbound from Clear Channel/Lexington, KY. She replaces Amy Bristle, who left last month. Joining G105 for nights is former WWWQ (Q100)/Atlanta night guy Geller.

Anyone want to take a stab at this one?

Interesting move...either he's burned out on the whole "big market" thing to validate himself or he wasn't nearly as good as he was hyped to be on this board. Heard him once, well-produced, Top 40 sounding show (as it should've been) but he didnt make me go 'wow'.

I'm leaning towards the former. Geller is a very good jock, and deserved better than getting crapped on at Q100. I agree that he should be in a larger market than Raleigh, but G105 is a legendary, stable station and a very good situation. Maybe he had a reason for wanting to be in North Carolina. I wish him the best of luck in his new gig - and All Access said that he just got married this past weeked. Congrats!

And :-X @ CC VT'ing into Atlanta!

I used to drive to Virginia fairly often and listened to G105 on the way. While I thought it was a better-sounding station about 5 years ago than it was the last time I heard it (about a year-and-a-half ago), it's definitely a solid station with good ratings. (It was one of the gazillion stations voiced by Brian James.)

And Raleigh is a nice city. I hope Geller does well there. I don't think he was really "crapped on" by Q100. His act just didn't fit the new formatics. He knew it, and they knew it.

Allaccess also reports ...

"GELLER is also tracking weekends at KZHT/SALT LAKE CITY, and has one more station lined up ... afterall, he's gotta big wedding and honeymoon to pay for."

The PD of G105 is 'Randi West' so maybe she's not the same 'Randi West' as the voicetracking one ... or is she? Hummmm.

CC/Raleigh isn't stable with most of it's cluster, but G105 was and is always the exception. In fact, it's really the only thing Clear Channel has done right in Raleigh. Yes, the Randi West on G105 is the same Randi West that, at one time, voice tracked a few dozen CC stations around the country. But, she's live in Raleigh. Geller starts this Tuesday evening. Though perhaps better in the 90's when it leaned more into Modern AC and rock, it's still a very impressive top-40.
