Gene Burns To Be On With Egan and Braude?

Did I hear correctly that Gene Burns will be a guest of Egan and Braude on Friday on their 96.9 WTKK talker?

Could this be the start of something BIG ?

Oh, stop it! Why would Burns want to come back to Boston at this stage in his career? He's working at the number one station in a Top 5 market--a much better talk radio market than Boston. Why would he want to take a step backwards? You're like clockwork. Just about every two weeks or so you post something on Gene Burns, despite the fact he's older than dirt and has been out of the market for years (sorry, his short-lived ISDN'ed show on WBIX a few years back doesn't count!) Do you send him flowers for his birthday too?

Besides, KGO is the perfect place for Burns--a middle of the road talk station with hosts that have nothing to say. The station has heritage and is the "news and information" station for San Francisco. It's not the caliber of their hosts that drives that bus. Everytime I've heard him he's always playing "devil's advocate" to the callers and summarizing their opinions for the listeners. Boring! Sorry, that kind of talk radio doesn't do it for me, and I doubt it would work here. Sure, the 55+ crowd would listen, but that's not the audience that either WRKO or WTKK wants to attract.

I seriously doubt it. I just checked KGO's program web site and Gene is listed M-F at 7pm (Pacific Time) and Saturdays at 10 am. As good as he is, he is in the perfect situation for him at KGO. He doesn't need to return to the "right" coast. Listening to Gene when he was on WRKO was a pleasure. He's a lot better than the garbage that exists on talk radio in this market. It's so bad that I don't bother to listen. I prefer satellite radio.

Typical FM brain drained response. Too much kemp infusion one might think.

If you think Gene Burns is "middle of the road" you are seriously misinformed.

His very FIRST broadcast topic in Boston was 'why does the Catholic Church keep South America barefoot and pregnant?' I think he started his show during Lent as well.

As to you "ageism' prejudice - if your lungs are not corrupted by your indulgences you may live to be 61 which I think is Gene's age.

Hey, he is still young enough to be a Rolling Stone !!!!

I listen to the first half hour and didn't hear Gene. Was he on later or was this just an unfounded rumor?
