Gene Looper/Corpus Christi

Sad to hear the news of a corpus christi legend pass on. I grew up watching Gene Looper on KZTV Ch.10 and listening to him on KSIX Radio.

When i got my 3rd class license in 1972 i applied at KSIX. Gene Looper gave me a scrip to read into a tape recorder. He was such a patient man. I will miss him dearly.

RIP Mr. Looper

I grew up in the Coastal Bend as well and watched Gene Looper for many years.

I remember his man-on-the-street program on KSIX radio.

True story from that interview program............

Gene: "What is your opinion of the Watergate Hearings?"

Lady: "Oh, I think it's wonderful. Corpus Christi needs more water!"

You just don't get good radio like that anymore ;D

I loved his annual promos for the new CBS fall season with Walter Furley.
The pair would be in costume and two were always over the top.

That's too bad, my sympathies to his family. We're losing some unique voices of television with each of these folks who pass, and frankly I don't know who's replacing them.
