Gene Merolis, oh what a great, great guy...

I'm still hearing that "Gene Merolis" jingle all over the U.S., with different car dealer names, but sung by the same voice, even though it must be nearly 40 years since the jingle first aired in Detroit. Was that original jingle done by Lee Allen? Does he still do the spots for car dealers around the U.S.?
 
Not sure, but I heard it was by a radio Program Director and production guy named Ev Wren. Wren spent some time in Syracuse, NY and later moved to the Denver, CO market.

Does anyone here know for sure?
 
Patten Advertising, Southfield, MI had control of that jingle and account for years and yes it was Ev Wren who created it. He also did "How do they sell their cars so dad blame low". Ev was ancient when I worked at Patten and that was 30 years ago so I doubt if he is still around (working at least). I have no clue who the agency is nowadays but Lee Alan had nothing to do with this.
