General Sales Manager Position Open

Noalmark Broadcasting Corporation has an immediate opening for a General Sales Manager for our six South Arkansas stations in El Dorado, AR.

We are looking for a GSM with previous experience as a Selling General Manager or Sales Manager

As our new GSM you will work with our Sales Managers on meeting monthly budgets and designing promotions. You will work with the General Manager to develop NTR avenues, build local direct revenue and designing promotions.

Our new GSM will have the aptitude to recruit and train employees and even assist our General Manager with the daily operation of the stations.

Our GSM will be expected to build revenue through proven selling and training techniques. We offer the very best in training from the RAB, NAB, Arkansas Broadcasters Association and more.

We own and operate 16 stations in the state of Arkansas and soon to add more. In addition, we also own and operate a weekly community newspaper along with numerous websites that received more than 6 Million Hits last month. This means you have even more revenue opportunities.

We offer a salary, commission, over-ride, bonus plan, along with health, dental and life insurance, paid vacations, holidays, and possibly more. A successful GSM should make at least $50,000 per year and eventually much more. There is also the possibility for advancement within our company for the right candidate.

Interested candidates should have a proven track record of building local direct business, meeting and exceeding budgets. THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR A DESK JOCKEY. Our manager's lead by example and are rewarded for it.

Previous experience in Media Sales and Media Sales Management is a must for consideration.

Send a complete resume to [email protected]

Noalmark Broadcasting Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we strongly encourage women and minorities to apply.

Something is wrong with the picture you paint here. "Eventually" the GSM can make more than $50,000?

I manage (and sales manage) a six-station cluster in a similar size market and I've got 4 account execs making between $55,000 & $85,000--on a straight 15 percent commission. Why would they take a GSM gig on the chance that they might make fifty? What's your GM doing? Polishing his golf game? Polishing her nails? South Arkansas ain't Los Angeles. Put the GM to work.

Is the GSM the guy who takes all the heat and gets none of the glory? Is the GSM the position that keeps revolving?

Sorry for intruding, but this scenario just sounds messed up.

Something must be going on at Noalmark in El Dorado. They've had a tremendous amount of turnover here in the last few months.

Southern Arkansas is a VERY poor area, and there's very little in retail. Just a boatload of radio stations--and TV--killing each other over dirt-cheap spots. That's why the gig doesn't pay anything.

A salary of $50,000 is incredible pay in southern Arkansas. You can live really well there on that kind of money. Cost of living is low throughout Arkansas. I lived in Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock between 1994 and 1997, and my rent never hit $400/month. The apartment complex in Fayetteville where I lived still rents for less than $400/month (though more than when I lived there), and rent in southern Arkansas used to run even less. Housing prices are also lower than they've been in a long time. So, it may be a better position salarywise than it looks at first glance. I don't, however, know what the working environment is at Noalmark having never worked there myself.
