Genesis to flip 1190am to ESPN Deportes

Mr. Bruce Maduri and family have purchased the rights to ESPN Deportes and are planning to flip Talk Radio 1190am (anyone even heard of this station??) to ESPN Deportes in Spanish by the second week of November...

First of all, does anyone think this format will be successful in Orlando?? Secondly, does anyone think a company that can't even succeed in English can do so in Spanish?? Especially when we all know the reputation Genesis has??

What the hell is going on with that company???

When I was living down there, nearly everything east of 1100Khz was Spanish: 1140, 1220, 1270, 1400, 1440, and 1680.

Seriously, is there room for yet ANOTHER Spanish AM? I realize the Latino population has exploded in Orlando, but there has to be a saturation point somewhere.

The station has no ratings and they never will no matter what they put on it. They are also supposed to be a daytimer, but they stay on past sunset till whenever someone feels like shutting it off. Now they had a CP once to go 24 hours but that expired earlier this year.

Maybe it looks a bit more attractive with the ESPN letters on the soon to be "for sale" sign. I am sure cash flow is now an issue. Maybe just maybe the station can be sold to help with the issues Genesis has with the infamous money dwindling WIXC 1060. Can someone tell me if $600,000 will by lock stock and barrell of "The Big Talker." Or is this a way to keep WIXC afloat without hurting ones pride? Anyone?

1190 has always been 5K day and 290 at night - not much of a signal but something.

Simply amazing. Maduri is known for making bad programming decisions but, I think this is his worst one yet. No wonder why his stations do not rate or make money. And, they need to kill all the liners on 1060 WIXC for the overnight shows since, in his infinite wisdom, Maduri chose to go silent after midnight until just before six in the morning, trying to save money. If you ask me, he should sell his stations and get out of the game. He has no idea what he is doing.
