Gentner DH20 and Teleswitch

Hey guys, our engineer just retired and we are in the process of getting a new one. Until then, we have an issue!

We have an old Gentner DH20 Hybrid and a Teleswitch. Right now it is just being used as a normal switcher. Our sister station has it setup to where the "noise burst" hits through the line before a line is answered and then turns off again. I found the manual for the Hybrid but I can't find anything for the Teleswitch. Does anyone know the correct pinouts for this so I can hook it up in our studio? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

You might call the nice people at Comrex or maybe take a look at their website. They bought part of Gentner and might be able to help.

The Hybrid itself needs to be turned "off" (on hook) and "on" (off hook) using the remote control contacts from the switch.

Each time the hybrid turns "on" it will send the adapt burst. This will reduce the nulling/leakage on the first word or two of the caller audio, so you are correct to implement this.

I don't have the pin-outs but this should be a simple 3-4 conductor cable. Consult the documentation for details.

Best of luck

I have the manual for the Teleswitch on my hard drive and can email you a copy off list.

Does anyone know where I could get parts for the Teleswitch or is there ANY other generic remote for these Comrex/Gentner hybrids?

I can't imagine there are very many parts in the Teleswitch that would be hard to find through standard sources. If the Hybrid control outputs no longer work there is probably a driver chip that is fried.

As far as other switchers, the most obvious would be Broadcast Tool's Teleswitch 6 which is similar to this.

You could also make a switcher out of an old 1A2 Key set.

Finally, you could use a Telos Direct Interface Module to handle the switching. You could also use your hybrid as a secondary hybrid on a Telos One-X-Six system.

Good Luck

I wouldn't know WHERE to begin on making a 1A2 Key set into a switcher. If anyone knows of anyone selling one, by all means, let me know! I would appreciate it!
