GenX 106.1 KTGX Tulsa,OK- Hesperia,Ca

I have been hearing (KTGX-FM) from Tulsa, OK in Hesperia, CA for the last week. The signal is strong off and on for a few hours in the late morning. The only reason why I notice it is because I have one of those low power FM transmitter that I use in my work car and the GenX signal is blasting my ipod signal to pieces. Is this because good conditions?? :)

Very strange picking up a station from Tulsa im surprised 105.9 or 106.3 is not interferring. KTGX sounds good for a 90's 2000's hits station. I tune in time from time.

Agreed! It's weird to hear GenX Tulsa. Power 106 on 105.9 in Los Angeles is not heard in the High Desert and The 106.3 from the Antelope Valley is not heard in the Victorville area as well so, that explains why I can use the frequency for my ipod. I do hear a country station from the Palm Springs area on 106.1 from time to time and GenX Tulsa. Every now and then we do get good conditions on the Ham Radio 2 meter band where we can hear and talk to Alaska, Hawaii and Florida on the 145mhz area not to far from the FM broadcast band. :)

You might be experiencing sporadic E-skip, a DX condition where FMs can be caught during openings from 800-1400 miles away.

It seems to happen on hot days. One summer day I picked up Sweetwater, Texas and Seattle on FM in my Corona, CA house.

And I've heard XETRA 91.1, 94.7 The Wave, 104.3 KBIG and 105.7 The Walrus in Tijuana here during a sporadic E event in May of this year.

That sounds about right! Sporadic E signals also go as high as 144 to 148Mhz on the ham bands. I've been hearing GenX 106.1 most of the week in the High Desert in Hesperia. It seems like I always hear it on the Northeast side of town. It's very interesting to hear distant stations.

No, there is no splatter. If there is it all depends on the FM radio that you are listening to. In my work truck I do not hear spatter on the radio on any frequency unless I am close to a transmitter.

I'm just wondering can you pick up KRAB 106 on E-Skips??

KRAB 106 out of Bakersfield barely penetrates it's COL. The tower is on the valley floor surrounded by mountains except to the North. That signal ain't going anywhere special.
