George Foreman, Championship Boxer and Grill Pitchman, Dead at 76

George Foreman died at the age of 76 on Friday, March 21, his family announced. Foreman was a two-time boxing heavyweight champion. He also sold a line of successful grills named after himself.

Tough fighter and personality. One of the all time greats without a doubt. Foreman was a big part of the Golden Era of boxing...

One interesting fact about George Foreman is he had five different sons from five different wives, all named George Edward Foreman. When asked why he named them that he said when you get hit in the head by Muhammad Ali as many time as I have, it's hard to remember different names. (Hi I'm George, and this is my son George, and this is my other son George, and my other son George, and my other son George, and my other son George)

And he was a preacher, born again. He loved God and devoted his outside time to the Lord, opened up a community center where he helped reach at-risk youth, and led as many as 3 church services a week - while practicing for his fights!!!

I know he got his ticket to eternal peace in Heaven. That's why George will always be my favorite boxer. An example that Christians (and even non-Christians) can look up to.

I'll have to pull out my George Foreman grill from storage and make a couple of hamburgers soon. They are excellent little grills, especially for apartment dwellers who can't have a full-size grill.
