Guest
hes been saying its the final broadcast and making it sound like they are going to turn the station off today. hes really going off

intresting
when i was in town a month or so back i didnt hear anything but the bird
no spots or anything local but the weather
the other cluster didnt seem to have very many ads either.. i heard more cleveland than clarksdale.. who's running them anyone?
where is Greg Shurden these days? I have lost touch with him.

George may be leaving WROX but I doubt 1450/92.1 is turned off.

Nice way to try and start a rumor, Mr. James Poe..........

Larry has an ad on AllAccess looking for someone to run the stations, so you are right, they are not being turned off.

exactly

I've known a few people who have worked for Larry and they all speak highly of him. I'm sure he's got a plan either way.
I'd love to go back to radio but I did my time in Clarksdale and really wouldn't want to go back. I'm doing ok in my current career. My family and friends have almost all left there as many people have done over the past few years. Its a tough market and I wish the best. There is allot of history behind the WROX call sign.

Is Morgan Bohannon still around anywhere?

Larry will pop in and enlighten us all when it's time for that.

George Hines was fired and WROX/WKXY is NOT being turned off.

Larry can be great to work for - assuming you are competent, show up for work, do your job, don't make excuses, don't turn in bogus orders, don't steal money, and don't jack off in the bushes while peeping in a neighbor's window (yes, I really had an employee who was arrested for doing that). However, if you are a lazy dumbass or a general f&$K-up, then Larry can be a real S.O.B., and rightfully so. He has no tolerance for b.s.

There you have it, straight from the horses ass... uh mouth.

Larry,

Thanks for setting the record straight. Good luck on finding someone to run those stations for you.

Yup, LF wouldn't turn them off.

MissPoe is actually James Poe, who was working with Steve Ladd, when Steve came to WRO under Konarz reign.

Steve was fired then arrested for stealing money and James slowly disappeared after that... I even saw a personal ad for james Poe up on yahoo Personals in Clarksdale. i think hes got a wife back home...

OK... Paul, I like ya, and you know your stuff from way up there in frontier land... but, I'm confused... how is it you can mention names and accusations and NOT be edited, but in other Mississippi threads, someone can talk about unnamed people and accusations and have red ink all over their posts? Hmmmmmmmm

Partly, Im guessing.. because I used to work for WQMA/WROX, and I know whats actually fact.

Ask Larry. Oh yeah, on James Poe's website, he was caliming he still worked for WKXY/WRO... something he hasnt in 2 years!

Good question, Greg, one I asked indirectly earlier. The person on the Miss103 posting was an individual I know that had "actually worked there", and "knew what's actually fact", and didn't say anyone's name on his post, just commented on something another poster had said, and he was edited by some nameless "moderator" who, for all I know, has no knowledge of the situation. This board is becoming less about real radio,( it's radio-info, ya know),but more about people on the outside offering their opinions, quoting from websites most of us already frequent, and covering subjects like low power tv stations changing networks or defunct AM radio stations. Ya'll have fun with it.

Normally I let this kind of stuff go, but I've got to chime in on this.

This is "Radio-Info" not "Radio-Rumor" or "Radio-Smear-Someones-Personal-Life". I worked at Miss103 myself years ago, so I know all about the situations mentioned. The personal comments (whether the person is named or not) served no real purpose that I can see. No... I'm not a moderator or one of the unnamed individuals. Just a longtime Jackson radio guy that would rather see personal attacks of any kind left off public message boards.

Thank you ,Mr. Engineer, for your insight and opinions on what message boards should be. I wish you great success in the future, wherever those endeavors might be in this business. That being said,I actually was unaware that what I posted was dipped in deadly ink on a previous post. My sarcastic stab at humor obviously hurt someone's feelings, and that was not my intent. Shame on me. I apologize, but I don't see the difference in what's posted on a message board from the conversations you or your friends have at your water coolers or whatever places you hang out at and discuss things. It's just words on paper, actually, read by a very small number of people. But, that's just my opinion, and who am I to have one?

I never said you weren't entitled to your own opinion. And I didn't intend to upset anyone by my comments. I just felt (in my own opinion) that your comments didn't serve any purpose other than to anonymously bash some former (and current) radio folks that I happened to work with in the past. You want to have that kind of conversation around the water cooler or at the local watering hole with some of your friends... hey it's a free country.

I'm guessing from the "Mr. Engineer" comment that you probably know who I really am and how long I've been in this business. One of the reasons I've managed to stay in this business is that I try my best to respect other folks in this business for their work and talent. I may not agree with parts of their personal lives, but I don't post that kind of opinion on a message board... nor do I care to see it posted by anyone else.

All I'm saying is that folks think for a minute about what they are posting before they actually do it. You never know when you might have to go back over that bridge you're about to burn.

What the heck, I'll jump in, too, even though I promised myself not to do so. I agree that some folks go over the edge on these boards when adding cutting remarks about people. Comes with the territory in a passionate business, I suppose. My gripe is selective enforcement on this board. This guy gets grief about making vague comments about a group of people, yet another guy gets ignored when he announces here that some other guy is named as a married guy posting a personal ad on another site. Let's drop the personal vendettas, people! Lord knows, I've been in this business for over 30 years, and I worked at MSI, too, by the way(hasn't everybody yet?) and I know where a lot of dead bodies are buried, yet don't feel the need to post signs as to where to find them.
.....at least until the book deal comes through........ :D

Paul:

Your accusations are false! I did not make the "Misspoe" posts on this site. This is an excellent tool for broadcasters and radio stations to keep abreast of what's happening in the industry, but it appears a handful have decided to turn it into a gossip page to slur people they don't like or have had disagreements with. [EDIT] First off you don't know me. Secondly, you don't seem to understand the "damage" you can do to a person's integrity and reputation on a site like this.

Any radio station that I've ever competed against in any market will piggy-back on your comments and before you know it a 33 year honorable, yet competitive broadcasting career, becomes in question because of a person like you. I have no problem with other stations telling clients not to buy from "Poe" because he's too pushy or doesn't understand the Delta. That's just competition! What I do have a problem with is someone like you, just making casual remarks like you're an authority on radio and the "Delta" when you're not!

I have always tried to conduct my radio business above board and have been very successful with that approach. If I have a disagreement with anyone in the industry, I take it directly to them. As you well know I was recruited from Minnesota to assist Steve Ladd with the start-up of WROX. You don't know the details of our agreement, and rightfully so, it's not your business. Jason commissioned Steve as General Manager and in case you don't know, the GM is responsible for ensuring the bills are paid. For you to accuse him of stealing is “gross misrepresentation” on your part. Suffice it to say you posted documentation (that can be lifted) that is totally false and damaging! Do you realize the "potential damage" you have done to Steve Ladd?! Give it some thought. How would you like to be in his shoes? I resent your remarks about me on this site and will take the appropriate actions. I don't think Steve is even aware of this.

I accidentally stumbled up on this site last week and have been viewing some of the comments made by people who have no knowledge of the Mississippi Delta Radio Market, but seem very comfortable "bad-mouthing" it. I love the market and contrary to your posts I have been here ever since I made the decision to help Steve with the start-up of WROX and have been able to make a descent living here—in radio!

For those who’ve tried the Mississippi Delta and don’t like it—Walk away! Let those of us who want to stay do what we do! Radio in the Mississippi Delta is a good business, if left to professional broadcasters! Bad-mouthing radio only frustrate advertisers and make them invest their advertising dollars in newspapers, billboards, commercial television, even cable TV--anything but radio! Do we really wantthem to do that? The battle between MRS Ventures and Larry Fuss is between them. It's got nothing to do with "Poe". The battle between you and Jason is between the two of you. I don't have a fight with any parties involved, and won't tolerate my name being associated with this crap. Getting WROX back on the air was a "cluster...", but we all knew the risks coming in. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, count your blessings that you are still passonate about radio, and move on.

[EDIT]

I urge others on this site who may have a problem with me to contact me directly directly at [email protected]. I would appreciate that.

It seems the new trend in competitive radio sales is to discredit the seller to the advertiser. We have reached a new low in this business. Let's raise the bar back to where it should be and make the newspapers, television stations and billboard sellers earn their money!

James Poe, but please call me "Poe"
