George Marti (Marti Electronics) has passed

From Scott Cain, the Mayor of Cleburne, TX:

We have lost a Cleburne legend. I am saddened at the loss of George Marti this past weekend. Mr. Marti was a WWII veteran and a key figure in the history of Cleburne.
During his time as mayor, the city had fallen upon hard times and he had to personally guarantee payroll to see that the employers were paid. He told me when I was first elected to listen to everyone I can, then make the best call I could for the good of Cleburne. I will miss my friend and former mayor. Please join me in praying for his family and for all of Cleburne.

Sad news out of Cleburne as legendary radio owner/engineer/philanthropist George Marti has passed away at the age of 95. Many in radio know are familiar with the “Marti unit” that he invented. He also signed KCLE AM and FM on the air in Cleburne in 1947 and 1949 respectively. KCLE-AM is now KHFX/1140 and KCLE-FM was eventually moved into DFW and is now KLTY/94.9
