George Mier arrives in Tampa

George Mier steps in to 92.5 FM after Ricco Blanco steps down to re-focus WRBQ. Is this the same George Mier that failed in Miami and Boston and the guy that was just canned from New York? Money must be tight for CBS.

If so welcome and remember one thing, AMOR makes the world go round :)

To "refocus WRBQ"? Are you kidding me? How many brains do they need in Mason's office to program Q105? Seriously... it's a classic hits station.... and shouldn't be that hard to image and program.

Yea I hear ya! Looks like the big cheese in our building may make a run at spanish on 100.7. I don't think we will ever have a better time than now because i'm sure this new guy will make some changes and change always brings lack of focus. The big signal of 100.7 with change going on at the same time will crush 92.5. Pop may be the way to go, WMGG keeps growing and it's on the am dial, just think what a pop format would do on a huge FM signal!!

As noted in another thread, 100.7 is the lowest-rated FM stick in the market, according to the latest Trend...

You would think, but my biggest gripe with Q105 is the constant shifts in formats. It looks like the change to mostly 70's has done well in the last trend, but seeing Rico getting added to the mix tells me another change is in store. You can't build a listener base when you shake things up every six months.

But didn't CC essentially make a deal with Mega that they wouldn't do a Spanish format in the market when they sold them 820? (The other side being that Mega would never do anything to compete with CC).....

clearchannel100... huh??? Are you talking about the same George Mier that kept WSKQ in the top 3 in New York for a few years? ::)

Ha ha ha ha you are funny, you mean he road on the coat tails of the morning guy for years! Let's see how he does in Tampa. If he fails here too then it's light out for George. I'll bet you he will bring his boy Luis via satallite in morning drive and he will do afternoons himself (I hear he really sucks too!). Once we're up and running with a local morning show it's over for the long distance morning show on 92.5. Plus, how long do you think 92.5 will last once we take almost all the local billing. No local client wants to be on a canned mornning show and after looking a the Miller Cap they can't survive on Nation alone.

Fun Times Ahead

Hey Luis Albertini ( Don't unpack all your stuff just yet!! )

You sound just like Rico. Are your feelings hurt? I feel sorry for you. When I was working in Mega Tampa La Buya had a 2.0 share on the am band. While La buya was on the air, 92.5 Morning show had 3.5 the most. Luis show has more content and experience. If is doing well in Puerto Rico, It will do great in Tampa. Rico, start working in q105 and stop talking *(*( about the station you lost.

I'm not Ricco but you are from CBS ha ha ha ha It's not true we never made a deal with 820. I see you are scared and you should be.

With our big signal alone cc take over the Tampa spanish market.
