HAINES CITY - Haines City- George E. Ogburn, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on 2/27/2016.
A true Floridian, originally born in Miami, he was retired from multiple careers in marketing and public relations, including Cypress Gardens and Polk Community College. He was a radio announcer for over 20 years including a stint at WGTO and announced the Red Sox spring training games for over 20 years and the Kansas City Royals for 10 years. Some may remember him as George Prescott from those days.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Powell Ogburn and his sister Merrilee Gholson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Goble Ogburn, mother of their four children, Kathy Ogburn Joslin, Betsy Ogburn, Ed Ogburn and John Ogburn, as well as his six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 1 00 pm at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 201 Kipling Lane in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church in his memory or to .

On a personal note, George was one of the first people that I worked with when I started my career in Broadcasting.
