George Weber Dies...

This is just devastating news. Everyone to whom I've spoken is in a state of shock.

Everything you needed to know about George could be answered by seeing him in the presence of his puppies, especially his beloved Noodles. George truly had a heart of gold, and he delighted in bringing together people from all different places and walks of life.

Rest in peace, my friend -- you will be missed.

Anita

Very very sad ... especially considering the turmoil surrounding his being bounced around in the early Imus days since Citadel / ABC brought back the I-man and relegated to doing 5-6 a.m. with Curtis Sliwa. George was great on the network and on WABC. He'll be missed ... especially with the apparent circumstances of his passing.

My condolences to Mr. Weber's family.

George Weber was one of those great NY Radio newsmen. When I was listening to WABC during the Curtis & Kuby show, he was always there with the news. The voice--distinctive. The NY Radio community has lost one of the greats.

But Denver is kind of sad as well. Before coming to New York, Weber worked at Denver's Fabulous KIMN 95. He aired the last newscast on KIMN when it went away in 1988...

This was the only story so far found at the WABC Website...

My prayers go to his family and his former colleagues at ABC Radio.

ABC Radio is going through a lot so far in this very young year. First, Paul Harvey, then Don Imus' cancer diagnosis, and now this.

Thoughts and prayers to George's family.

George was also the Evening host at KOA when the first Gulf war came out. We became acquainted with each other as I used to listen and call into his show. I even sent him a tape of a Canadian top 40 station in AM stereo as he was wondering on air once if there were any left. After spending many years at KOA he then went onto KGO in San Francisco. He was a true class act, I already miss him, and he was THE guy who got me into listening to talk radio. He was a proffesional, no doubt. RIP George. While your time on earth was short, you accomplished a lot.

A shocking and truly sad story. George was a pleasure to listen to, a true professional whose love of his job was evident in every newscast. Condolences to his many family and friends. Interestingly enough George's untimely death got me thinking about other instances when a news person actually became the news. Jane Dornacker, Jessica Savitch, and to a lesser extend Marv Albert are some of the names that come to mind. Any others?

does anyone know if Noodles has a home?.. I would be happy to take Noodles..here on an acre in Sacramento..with lots of love and great food and a country life ...compared to his city life...I worked ..albeit briefly ..with George at KGO in the late eighties..

kgo radio..sf..please advise.

I didn't hear Hannity give any condolences or hear him mention the murder at all. Hannity should have said something, unless I missed it.

Hold on everyone. He invited someone into his home and neighborhood for activities that he knew could violently endanger other people.

He did, at the top of Hour 2 - 4:00 PM locally.

Slaughtered by a 16 year old boy for kinky sex and $60. Who didn't see this coming?

In a way it's ironic that the death of the self-described "news guy" ends up becoming a news story with more than a few twists and turns.
