Georgia Eagle Broadcasting Sales Openings

Currently I am not looking for on air personalities, programmers, voice talent nor someone to "save my ratings" with the latest fad format. I am looking for someone to help sell the benefits of advertising on our ever expanding locally owned radio group. We have a very strong local cluster building in Middle Georgia and need two strong sellers on the street. Again, this is not a programming job, but a sales/marketing opportunity with a new locally owned company based in Warner Robins.

What I am looking for is someone with the ability to sell and service their accounts, find new business and superserve the community that you live in. I really would love to have an individual that wants to work and live in the Cordele, Hawkinsville, Cochran, Eastman, Perry or Warner Robins immediate area. You could work out of our current office locations in Warner Robins, Hawkinsville or Cordele. You need to be already familiar with the market and be willing to make the commitment to quality. We will offer a very good package for the right individual, with some accounts already on the books available. And yes, if you recently lost your job in the annual Corporate downsizing and would be willing to put your energies to work in sales, I may can help. We will train if needed.

You may apply confidentially by emailing me through this website or by calling my office at 478-923-3416. Again, this is for two local sales positions for our growing cluster in Middle Georgia (not just one station). Unlike other groups, we are not cutting people nor do you have to be one of twenty trying to scrape by. We are adding to our team, one department at a time. (EOE)

olhankster,
How've the replies been? Many? What's the quality? So many good people have been burned so badly that they haven't turned on their radios for years much less considered getting back into the business.

Stewy,

Actually, I am getting a number of quality applicants. A few have been burned by the corporate power plays and bitter managers or co-workers. Most are hard workers that have the passion for the business still, just wanting to get away from the corporate way of life or return to local focused radio. Let's face it, if you are on the streets only 15-20 hours a week, you are not going to succeed. It takes commitment and organization when you work in any cluster enviroment.

I am looking to move fast with a good sales team that also see the potential we have. We are very realistic with the goals, so the new staffers know exactly what they are getting into before they start. You find lots of the same personalities in all walks of life, so changing jobs or careers needs to be well thought out. Let's face it, a really good salesperson can do very well in this operation. They just have to work and spend some time on the streets. And most importantly, let the pains of the past stay there. Life is too short for such things.

BTW, most applicants come from listening to the radio stations, especially WRPG, WNNG and the new station - Sunny 99.9. Very few applicants come from the web or print. More proof that radio still gets results.

One note for any possible applicants: Our cluster is home to the all the Houston County High School Football, Basketball and Baseball teams (Northside, Warner Robins, Houston County and Perry), Hawkinsville High Football, Basketball and Baseball...plus, UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. The Braves will be on three of our stations in the cluster, giving options to smaller communities a chance to hear the team on the local Hometown AM stations during the day and on WRPG at Night. Plus, we have local news on all stations, Delilah on Sunny 99.9, a live morning show on WNNG and more local programming to come later. It is a very strong cluster for the local area, with something for nearly any business to succeed.

Thanks for asking...Hank

Here's a thought to ponder:

It's good that a company like Georgia Eagle Broadcasting is committed to the community it serves, which is Warner Robins, Perry, and other surrounding communities in middle Georgia south of Macon. It shows not only in the local news that's being carried, but also in the local high school sports coverage that's available on these stations. That's something has been missing from the radio industry in general over the last decade plus. It's simply too bad that the Clear Channel's of the world have become so fixated on the bottom line, they either can't or won't understand what serving a community is, let alone understand what that means.

As has been mentioned before on this board, as well as elsewhere on the internet, the radio stations, and/or clusters that remain on the air in the years to come will have that commitment to the communities they serve. It will especially become as Clear Channel and the other big consolidators either continue to trim the number of stations they own, or consider doing so. It wouldn't come as much of a surprise, in fact, if more companies such as Georgia Eagle emerge from this current transition from consolidation.

Finally, it's important to not only reach the young audience, which has been the source of numerous complaints among radio observers, but also the older audience, which has basically been ignored by advertisers as well. Will turning things around with this industry be easy? No. Is anything possible? Yes. Terrestrial radio can have its renaissance, but it will take hard work and determination for that to happen. And it appears that companies like Georgia Eagle Broadcasting will be a part of that new beginning.

It's exciting to have them bringing the local focus back to radio here in Middle Georgia. Best of luck to Hank and all at Georgia Eagle.

And thnks for the Georgia Southern coverage. Georgia Eagle Broadcasting... Georgia Southern Eagles... seems like a good match!
