Gerry House's Final Show

Been listening this morning from the East Coast via stream. Nicely done, as always.

As I think I've offered before on this board, the House act is as good as radio gets. Nashville has been real lucky for three decades.

Have fun, Ger.

not to be morbid..but will always remember where i was (between Livingston and Hilham tn)..when i heard his final moments....."Staying Alive" ?? Big 98 ,,,Disco ?? new format ??..lol

I got to listen to the final hour online from here in Arizona. I remember hearing the House Foundation when I'd come to Music City for the Country Radio Seminar. Always had a cassette rolling as much as I could to capture the fun.

Funny thing about Gerry in the 80s and today...He may be older, but that voice quality then to now is timeless.

It's a loss to radio and Nashville listeners, but a well-earned retirement...Just sorry this day came along. Enjoy the next chapter, Gerry! I'll keep an ear out for any of your songs that get recorded down the road...

i was able to listen to 95% of the show as i was driving most of the time..and i didn't hear any mention of Duncan either...so i don't think you missed any comment..and yes a bit odd..

Duncan recently posted on his Facebook that he's moved to Reno and has started a new career. He's moved on.

I was able to tune into the stream as well...the show was well done without getting sappy. Thought it was a classy move by CC to name the studio 'The House.'

Here's the funny thing from my perspective since I worked on WSIX-FM, then branded as "Metropolitan Country" in the early 70's. I still think of Gerry House as the "new guy"!

He came to GE Broadcasting in 1975 from Jacksonville to work PM drive over on the AM side playing adult contemporary. WSIX-AM was then in competition with WSM-AM, also adult contemporary but a tad hotter. Gerry was head-to-head against Pat Sajack over on 650.

I was out of the market by the time Gerry started playing country. So in spite of his long and successful run on WSIX-FM, my image of him is still frozen in time as the young man across the hall on 980 playing Abba, Seals and Crofts and the Doobie Brothers. :)

I wish both Gerry and WSIX the very best. I fondly remember my time there and Gerry was always a considerate, kind co-worker.

Quoted "Duncan recently posted on his Facebook that he's moved to Reno and has started a new career. He's moved on."

Without divulging information on real names and Nashville property owners, Duncan's real name (or someone with his same legal name) is listed as a homeowner in Donelson. I could be wrong, but speculate perhaps his child is living there, or home is now a rental, or house for sale.

i stand corrected as not hearing a mention of Duncan...must have happened the other 5% of the time i am not in the truck..glad to know he was recognized...

Duncan and his wife did live in Donelson until about 6 months ago. Don't know if he sold the house or not - I know it was up for sale.
