Get a free MBA degree from Cumulus? That's what the ad says...

Taken from a Cumulus job ad for DFW:

What we offer: Training equivalent to acquiring a Sales-MBA

Now that's funny. I wonder if the Cumulus MBA program is fully accredited by AACSB Internation?

[AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business]

Today, the AACSB Accreditation Standards are used as the basis to evaluate a business school’s mission, operations, faculty qualifications and contributions, programs, and other critical areas. AACSB accreditation ensures students and parents that the business school is providing a top-quality education. It also ensures employers that AACSB-accredited business school graduates are ready to perform on day one. Additionally, AACSB accreditation provides many benefits to the faculty and staff at its accredited schools by attracting higher quality students, providing greater research opportunities, and allowing for global recognition.

Just think of it like this. Cumulus will GIVE you a $100,000 educational value for FREE if you sell for them! Check the price folks, Harvard is one of the few places that offers the degree they mention. It does sorta sound like Ron Popeil of Ronco Fame...

On the other hand, Cumulus will take from you the complete value of a work vehicle if you serve them as market engineering manager; reference to previous discussion wherein Cumulus stated in a different job ad how engineers must provide a personal vehicle to fulfill the duties of that position.

It's certainly sends a "mixed message" - Kinda makes me think that the place is goofy!

I guess it is worth mentioning that Lew holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, HBS, which is considered one of the best in the country. That fact is pretty well know.

However less well know is that Lew authored a book for NAB Press circa 1996: The Franchise, Building Radio Brands, which is long out of print and very hard to find.

The curious thing is that that 1996 book appears to merely mimic a commonly used MBA textbook on marketing (sometimes called 'the big Kotler' by instructors) with an focal emphasis on radio. As I recall, The Franchise lacks any references or footnotes to any other texts (weird) except for the fact that Lew seems to thank his father for the knowledge.

Yes, Lew and I believe John too have MBA's.

The Franchise should be made available electronically in the public domain. (seriously)

And perhaps since Cumulus is offering MBA equivalent sales training, they can expand into the private education sector too as to become like the University of Phoenix or Kaplan or ITT Tech. Hey, it's a profitable endeavor!
