A well know DJ in Chicago who has been in the market for almost 3 decades was given his walking papers this week. This just goes to show if yo are in radio, get out while you can. Pretty soon the owners will be running everything themselves. I am out and I am glad that I am out!! It is areal bad business to be in. Yo maybe ok now, but just wait, DJ" are going to be replaced. Even sales people are not safe anymore. Here in NWA radio is awful anyway. Everyone should jsut automate with music and close the doors.

I just have to comment on this...It's truly sad that many of us in the business are losing their jobs - but it's part and parcel to being in this business - as Husker fan said - deal with it and move on. It's tough out there, I'll be the first one to admit it...I've been back in Houston for 6 months, and haven't been able to find a full time gig - there is plenty of part time, so that's what I am doing...The way I look at it, at least I am still working.
As for Husker fan - I know him - he's one of the most dedicated radio pro's I've ever known - and no, he's not an owner.

I will never take my full time on air jobs for granted. It is a lot of work, but it's nice to be able to have my wife stay home with our son.

radioair... - do you really think that those of us that are in and have been in the business don't know about what's going on? Considering how most people forecast based on occurrences in larger markets than the one in which they are in, we all know about people being hacked off in the big leagues. Most of us find ourselves on this board already equipped with all access accounts as well, so we know what goes down elsewhere. I would love to make easy jokes about your post but sea bass above already did the honors. I don't imagine that with such poor skills in the basic English dialect that you could have lasted long enough to really love the business...
They were typo's. It nice you can pick out typing flaws instead of dealing with the matters at hand. I am doing well in a new career. Anybody who sits on this board and picks out other poeples flaws has too much time on their hands. The other possibilty is that you think you are perfect and better than anyone else. You need to stick to the topics at hand, and just becaue you disagree with a post, don't run people down. Just wait until somebody smacks you down.

ROFL!!! I get smacked around a lot...it let's you know you're alive! As for the matter at hand...this should have gone without saying but since you need it spelled out...IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS!!!! Everybody in every industry would be employed 100% of the time if they could make that decision but that's clearly not the case.
As far as pointing out your grammatical flaws...it's what happens to naysayers that come on the beloved board and shoot a proverbial deuce on the craft. It has nothing to do with having too much time on anyone's hands...do you realize how much multi-tasking we all have to do now? It has everything to do with detail and being able to type 90+ wpm... maybe update your browser so you get the squiggly lines underneath misspelled words so your point sounds a bit more credible.
Don't take it too personal...we just work hard to maintain our place in a business that we love and don't need people stating the negative obvious.
Speaking of squiggly lines:
Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the peripheral of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.
