Get your act together WTIC (AM)

Twice this morning WTIC had technical difficulties and their weather forecast did not air during the 10:30AM update or the 11:00AM update.

At 10:30AM they did the news. I think a commercial aired. Then Tom Michaels did the traffic then they tossed to the weather. The weather bed (music) played, but no weather forecast played. Then CBS Market Watch, a commercial, and back to The Jim Vicevich Show.

At 11AM they did a longer newscast (as is always the case at the top of the hour), a commercial, Tom Michaels traffic report, tossed to the weather Joe Fury began the weather (presumably on tape) and a commercial began playing. Then they cut off the weather restarted the commercial and then went back to The Vicevich show.

Get your act together guys.

I'm not a listener to The Vicevich Show, I just punched up WTIC to check the weather since I was in my car with no other way to access a weather forecast.

Where's Mike Fitzpatrick with "haven't you heard of "technical difficulties?""

This is a non-issue.

For the record, Joe does all the weather live from downtown. If there are problems on the line from Hartford to Farmington, well... there you go. That's what happens when you do things live.... once every 6 months you miss 2 forecasts out of 96 per day.

A full-service heritage icon that needs a wake up call to deliver outstanding service to Connecticut. Or maybe just run All Swap Shop All The time with The Famous Glenna Colligan.

WTIC's lineup after 9 am is the biggest technical difficulty the statiom has.

I know it's probably wrong to quote myself but the first thing WTIC AM needs to do is drop Rushie, the serial liar and bigot, just like over 2600 advertisers have done in the last year.

I may be wrong on this but for the last few months or so during the Ray dunaway show after the 5:45 am sports slot!Ray will spend his time chatting with scott gray then rushing the US weather spot with mr joe fury.

It makes me sad to read threads like this -- The station I grew up with -- Bob Steele, Robert E. Smith, Arnold Dean, Lou Palmer, Floyd Richards, etc. is looong gone. To me it WAS truly a class operation and a heritage station.

I no longer live in CT but the only thing this station has left for me is the "v-for victory" time signal.

I'm a total fogey when it comes to WTIC-AM. I wish the powers-that-be had figured out how to keep TIC the family-friendly powerhouse it always had been. Hostile political talk was the antithesis of what it had been. I remember Bob Steele one Saturday morning in the late 90's saying something like "we don't talk about politics and things that'll get you upset like they do during the week," (I'm totally paraphrasing; I'm sure it wasn't that overt). If they had been able to figure it out without aging the AM demo even more they would've been true pioneers; no one has been able to do it.

On the other hand, I wish WTIC-FM would youthen up a lot. But that's me.

They're adult CHR, #1 women 25-54 for the entire day. They're also #1 females 18-34 weekends. How much younger do you want them to get?

As for WTIC-AM, I think a lot of people are overlooking how much they really still do. Who else has a full newsroom in Hartford radio? Who else still has live and local dayparts on AM? Sure it went political talk, the station changed. Stations always change, and they have to change to fit the needs of their audience at the time. I'm sure listeners in the 70's missed the TIC of the 30's.
