This past Sunday it was such a lovely day, so I had to make a decision of what I wanted to use the day to do. I could either sit down and watch Lauren Order, or walk to Squaw Peak Mountain and go hiking. So, I chose to go hiking. I started to climb the mountain with my typical radio player(s) and speakers, and as I got high, I began to notice I could hear more stations!
There were many times I wanted to turn around and just get off the mountain, but people kept going, which made me a bit curious to know what was up there, so this time I went all the way to the top! I was a bit disappointed when I got up there only to find out there was nothing there, but I did scan the radio to see which stations I could pick up. Yes, I know this may be old news to many people, and many of you may already be well aware of which stations you could clearly get up there, but it's still a little interesting how you can pick up so many extra stations clearly when on top of a mountain. What's funny about this particular mountain though is that unlike Peoria mountains, it seems as if you can only get the extra stations clearly once you get to the very high top of Squaw Peak Mountains! I wonder why that is?
Anyway, it was nice. Nice weather, and such a great day to get high and listen to music. I had Handel on The Law blasting about 77% of the way up, listened to my Zune while on the top, then listened to Mix 96.9 on the way down. I thought about appropriately listening to The Peak, but for some reason I chose 96.9 instead. Interestingly enough, I noticed a mess up in the Mix 96.9 sweeper! AFTER playing "If life was a highway", they used a sweeper introducing/announcing more 90's music, then played The Fray's "You found me". I do have to admit though that after not listening to 96.9 for a long time, I was reminded of why I really used to love listening to that station. It was sounding pretty good. Hip hop hits for some reason do not get me into a hiking mood.
"Teach me how to dougie
Teach me teach me how to dougie
Teach me how to dougie
Teach me teach me how to dougie
Everybody love me
Every Everybody love me
Everybody love me
Every Everybody love me"
... That just does not get me into a hiking mood. Climbing a mountain is not the type of desire that is aroused within me when I hear this song. Yes, I may talk a lot about and like KZZP and KZON, but I'm sort of in a different mood for music while hiking, unless of course they are mixing. I've got to have something that's either fast paced & upbeat, stimulating talk, some alternative hits, or someone fun to talk to while hiking. I don't know why, but that's just the way it is. After walking to, climbing, and walking back home from that mountain, I was a bit knackered. I got in my bed and watched some tv until I fell asleep. Yes, Lauwr & order was on, but I didn't watch that.
