Getting the usual Sydney, NS stations from an unusual source

It's such a wonderful and hot summer day here in Port aux Basques that I'm getting my usual fare of Sydney, NS stations from an unusual source: my JVC home stereo system (AM/FM tuner, dual tape deck, 3-disc CD changer), which is plugged into the electrical outlet. I'm getting some strong reception from...

89.7 CKOA The Coast Glace Bay
94.9 CKPE The Cape Sydney
95.9 CBAF-FM-14 Premiere Chaine Sydney (French version of Radio 1)
98.3 CHER Max FM Sydney
101.9 CHRK The Giant Sydney
103.5 CKCH The Eagle Sydney
105.1 CBI-FM CBC Radio 2 Sydney

It's pretty rare for me as I normally pick 'em all up on my very reliable Sony Walkman. I'm going to milk this for what it's worth and wait after today for the next opportunity to hear them in my home.

How far is it to CBI from there?

Port aux Basques must be a rather interesting place to DX from. Pretty good shot down the East Coast, one wonders how far an opening might go? (Florida<=>Maine has happened...) Multihop E-skip into Europe is quite possible as well. How's the terrain to the east? (do you hit mountains pretty quickly, or is it reasonably flat for a few miles?

It would be VERY interesting to do a bit of early-summer DXing from the other side of the province.
