The new getTV network from Sony, programs old classic movies 24/7. They're actually 'quality' movies...not your average public domain retreads that many low power affiliates air these days, aka America One or AMGTV. http://get.tv/schedule
getTV recently signed a deal with Sinclair owned stations. Among their more recent additions, are the northeast cities of Buffalo, Rochester, and Portland, Maine.
I recently saw getTV while visiting my brother near Buffalo. It looks good! The problem is, they haven't signed any stations in eastern New York yet. They now have 70% coverage, which needs to increase. In the Albany area, we have ThisTV on a WRGB sub-channel. I believe getTV would be a great companion to ThisTV.
I don't pretend to know what has to happen in any given market when a 'network' is shopping for new affiliates...but I hope the getTV exec's don't overlook the Albany/Schenectady/Troy market as a possibility. And if they were to shop our local channels, I hope one of them would listen.
I think the best bets here would either be for WRGB or WNYA (owned by WNYT) to add getTV via a new sub-channel.
We already have the old network shows ... MeTV and Antenna TV... what we need now are the old movies that getTV airs!
