Ghost town

It must be. Very quiet. There's a new classic country station on the air in JAX, with Boomer returning to mornings. New air staff announced yesterday, their streaming and have a new website, yet no one is talking about it.

It's not just this topic. All of the topics seem to be at about 10% of their former load. I find the new design noticably harder to use. For example, I cannot easily tell when a new post has been made to a topic. It looks almost the same.

I've also noticed that some of the posts are squished way to the left for no apparent reason.

Why? Change is good. I think the North Florida markets are too vague perhaps? Look at our area, nothing has really happened. (Big surprise)

FYI...give it a try.

We are still tweaking the design, so bear with us.

Just my $0.02 worth but it will be great if the Radio Discussions Board returned to the original - more user friendly - format and design. I believe in doing so the discussions, comments and news input will increase back to its former usage.

Kinda tough to read on the iPad. I took the mods advice and, for me, the default works better. I've seen a handful of changes on here over the years, but this one seems to have quietened the postings the most. Maybe we should all step up and become more active. And FWIW, the fact that the new owners are willing to step in and help out is really awesome. That says a lot about your quality and integrity!

That's odd Tibbs. The site only displays well in Safari on my iPad. It's all screwy with a grey on black theme in Safari on my iPhone and shit is just all over the place on my desktop/laptop ie/Firefox.

I'm using the default and it is much better.

Otherwise, radio in Tally seldom changes and there's just not much to say about it. I gave up on it years ago and listen to my own, or sometimes other, streams for the most part.

I mostly lurk anyway but haven't been able to log in. I forgot what e-mail address I registered with and it wouldn't take my password. So I had the account reset. I prefer the old design better but this will work just fine. I have also noticed a decline in posts on this and the East TN forum.

I have mostly avoided the site for two reasons:

1. My login quit working...no amount of password resets or help from the site techs was able to resolve it.

2. The redesign hurt my eyes.

Now with the "classic" theme making the site readable again, I decided to make a new login. Hopefully they won't try to make any more "improvements" here.

Chris,

Would you like us to merge your old account with your new one? All posts will be moved over and nothing will change with your current log in. Sorry for all the mess. Hopefully, we are back on track and keep the engines running smooth form now on.

Best,

We are living in this “instant gratification” age where the folks just don’t seem to have patience. In the other board where users ask questions, I noticed when the site changed, a line was crossed a good number of times between constructive feedback and just a pure gripe session where no advice/explanation was going to satisfy. Some vowed never to participate again because they didn’t like this or that. Perhaps some just needed an excuse and the passion was never really there. Usage is off everywhere and I hope it returns because radio is still worth the fight.

I’d like to share a little story to drive some points. When the movie “Gravity” came out, I met some friends at a Whataburger for lunch before going to the show. In keeping with an old 50’s style diner, the background music is pure oldies. The music got us on the subject that when those songs were popular, it was common to have to wait for the radio to “warm up” before you can hear anything. Instant gratification took a little while.

Interestingly, there was a discussion about radio in the movie between the Clooney and Bullock characters. I won’t give anything away for those who may not have seen it but it made me realize radio is still relevant after all this time. There’s a lot more competition and the boards show differences of opinion. But think about it, with all the tech wonders around us, radio is not only still there but a huge percentage of people still tune in. Just my two cents but I believe people don't like silence, especially when they are alone in the car. When the phone call is through, there is the car radio and I suppose that need for instant gratification kicks in.

Honestly, I miss the “old days” where the boards had a lot of good conversation going among a lot of different posters. I hope we can get back to that. The RD Reps have shown they are willing and able to assist the posters to make them “whole” again. Participation on the boards is voluntary. Perhaps there is a feeling opinions don’t matter so why bother. I don’t agree. Hopefully, those of you on the sidelines will come to that conclusion too.

Personally I would much rather see it set up like Forumotion or Niceboard. but this isn't my forum nor do I have the time to make one so this one will be suffice.

Mike
