Gil Gross: Early Career

While 440 Satisfaction traces Gil's radio gigs back to WLS in 1971,
an entry in the 1969 Broadcasting Yearbook* for class IV KCYN 1240
Williams, AZ (west of Flagstaff on I-40/Route 66) has "Gil Gross" as
news director. Same Gil, or a different Gil?

*: Again a big shout out to the Old Gringo for the PDFs of these
old yearbooks on his site.

Same Gil. He was "the youngest anchorman in ABC News history when at the age of 23 he anchored network newscasts from the ABC Chicago Bureau, while he was also the morning news anchor at WLS Radio."

Gil's bio on the KGO website:

Howzabout a link to the Old Gringo's Broadcasting Yearbook website, please?

David Eduardo is the Old Gringo?

He's even referred to himself as such on these boards.

I simply added "cranky" ;) as a prefix to the handle based on some
differing opinions in a thread on hitting the post.

By neddy dingo, I'd a never thunk it.

You're just now realizing this? Heh heh heh...it's gotta be the world's worst-kept secret.

440 has incomplete records and inaccuracies. Many people who did/do work in radio simply don't care to correct the errors that others make because they don't consider the info or the notoriety that important. Many people who spent 30-40 years in radio aren't even listed at all.
