Gillian Sheridan out at KLTV Channel 7 Tyler

Just heard from what I'd consider a pretty reliable source, longtime 5/6/10 anchor Gillian Sheridan is no longer at KLTV Channel 7 in Tyler. Christine Nelson left there a few months ago and hasn't been replaced, so right now it seems they don't have any females anchoring Monday through Friday.

I just watched KLTV's newscast over a few nights and noticed that there was no presence of Gillian. I always wonder as to what female anchor would succeed her. Was there a reason why Gillian is out at 7?

And speaking of which, I just watched a few minutes ago, that Frank Melton, who used to run both KLTV, KTRE (Lufkin) and WLBT (Jackson, MS) passed away earlier today of what is believe cardiac arrest or something.

I am trying to find out from inside sources what happened to Gillian. She'd been there 12 years. I remember when we hired her. I always thought she was terrific and very nice. She is no longer on the KLTV website. I hope it was nothing bad and that she either moved up in markets or just decided to leave the business. I also looked on Raycom's (KLTV's owner) job page to see if they had her position posted and they do not. So, I just wonder if they just have decided to downsize to single anchor newscasts at 5, 6, & 10?! Best of luck to Gillian in whatever she does next.

Heard from a source that there was a closed door meeting with employees of KLTV. The person who called the meeting said that there would be no questions asked or answered, but that Gillian was no longer an employee of KLTV. End of meeting. Anyone else heard anything?

I heard Joe and Gillian had got into a big argument. She was suspended, then fired.

When I was there, I always thought their relationship was rather strange. In a lot of newsrooms, anchors that work together, sit near each other. Their desks were not together. Gillian sat near Clint Yeatts and seemed to have better chemistry with him. Joe and Gillian came around the same time. Joe got there a few months earlier. They were both extremely nice when they started there. However after 12 years in the same roles and the main anchors of the dominant number one station, their egos have probably escalated and this was probably something building for sometime now. She must have said something really bad for them to fire her. You rarely hear about this happening. When KLTV was owned by TV-3, it was a no-nonsense company. I guess that tradition has continued under Raycom.

There was no meeting. Everyone I've talked to at the station (and across town) says there was never any discussion, just a generic email that she was out.
