Gino Cappelletti retires from Patriots radio team

From Boston.com

http://www.boston.com/sports/touching_all_the_bases/2012/07/gino_cappelletti_retires_from.html

According to the article, "Gil Santos, his partner for 28 years on the broadcasts and the past 21 consecutively, will return for his 36th year in the booth. Scott Zolak, the former Patriots quarterback who thrived in an innovative sideline-based third analyst role last season, is expected to succeed Cappelletti on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s broadcasts, though that decision is yet to be finalized."

class act. Ever since I was a kid, it's been "Gil and Gino." I know he'd lost it a bit the past few years (Gil Santos has, as well) but I'll miss him. Zolak got better as the season progressed and he'll be a decent-enough replacement. I'll continue to turn down the TV volume and listen to the radio broadcast. I'd rather poke my eardrums with a pen than listen to the likes of Phil Simms, John Gruden, etc.

When Gil finally retires, I hope to god they don't bring in Gary Tanguay.

I think WBZ-98.5 may make Dave Goucher do double duty; play-by-play of both the Patriots and the Bruins (with a substitute for up to a half-dozen early-season Bruins' games that conflict with the Patriots' schedule).

That way, the station will save a lot of money, even if they give Goucher a slight raise in pay.

This is the best yet from you...

This wasn't handled particularly well. A bit surprising the team didn't go out together after last season. Maybe they would have if the Pats didn't go all the way till Feb?
It was a tough winter for Gill who I hope is recovered and ready for a good season whether it should it be his last, or not? Gino went as far as he could and he should have no regrets.

Kraft's call. Whatever he wants.

I disagree, Tanguay is pretty good and knows his stuff.
