GIVE ENTERCON WHAT THEY WANT AND YOU AND YOUR ENGINEER GET FIRED

C

Casablanca

As my past posts will attest this poster was no fan of John DePetro but I believe he was fired unfairly. As one commentator said on Friday considering that Howie Carr has called Ted Kennedy "Fat Boy" for years and made fun on Cheryl Jacques because she is a lesbian and more it reminded one of the line from Animal Farm that "all the animals were equal but some were more equal than others."

That was the case in John DePetro's case who I think had become far more moderate after the Democratic Primary than either Scott Allan Miller's racists implication or Howie Carr's rants.

What is all too familiar to this poster and just as unconscionable is the firing of DePetro's engineer.

Well, I guess the more thinks change in radio scapegoating, the more they stay the same.

I wonder if WTKK will find room for John DePetro in its lineup after Jay Severin let WRKO "the Fake All Talk Station" have it in its corporate b$#* ... if they and the veritically challenged Gm of that station have any.

Give these corporate monsters what they want and then they kill you.

It's more likely that depetro's faux pas was used to bolster their PC credentials after these same people botched the metco thing. Their concern about content is solely based upon revenue. I listen to WEEI mostly and what depetro said is in line with what I hear on 850 all the time. The shameful way they threw the board op under the bus is a testament to their lack of character.

Django in agreement with Casablanca. Guess what, Django, two voices on this board have been criticizing WRKO for months (actually years) now and get criticized for those critiques. It took a board op getting unfairly fired for people to finally agree with Casablanca and yours truly that The Talk Station has no character.

WRKO is a joke. The radio station needs to be fumigated starting with Howie Carr, Mike Savage, Rush Limpjaw, all of 'em. It is one big Republican propaganda machine in a Blue state. There is no balance, there is nothing of any value to anyone with half a clue.

I'll take that to mean that Republicans and anyone else who doesn't fall lock-step in line with "progressive" thinkers has no clue, then? Seriously, though, do you think 'RKO's ratings would vastly improve if, say, it leaned more to the left in one or more of its dayparts? My opinion is they wouldn't. I think that's like asking the Herald to editorialize more to the left to improve readership. That misses the point of what the paper, in is all about.

Of course, stations change format all the time to try to capitalize on the latest trend, so it's not impossible. I still think it's doubtful.

The Boston Globe has a bigger readership than the Herald because we are a Blue state.

Howie Carr brags about the Globe losing readership - it isn't because they have Jeff Jacoby adding so-called
"balance".

The reason both papers are losing readers is because of the internet. Dr. Stephanie Sarkis in her 10 Simple Solutions book (a previous guest on my show) advocates reading newspapers online to get rid of clutter.

So the analogy isn't a good one. In this "Blue State" I truly believe that - like WBUR - WRKO can find a
bigger audience by allowing "talk", not talking at us and forcing a failed candidate like Kerry Healey down the throats of the listeners.

The Herald is just a cheap tabloid, which is why it lags behind. RKO is a radio version of
that cheap tabloid. WBUR is the radio version of the Boston Globe, but people will tune in for free when
clutter and newsprint can be read on line. Electronics win. Just have to put Progressive electronics out there in this state.
