Give "HD Radio" your own meaning

Despite the common belief that it means "High Definition Radio", iBiquity is careful to point out that the "HD" in "HD Radio" doesn't actually stand for anything -- the full name is just "HD Radio", period.

However, we are free to give our own meanings to the "HD". So what would you have it stand for? My personal favorites are "Huge Disaster" and "Highly Distorted".

Great, we have an HD board and we get "highly distorted" (which by the way, properly implemented it is not). Even with its problems, the fact is that HD radio is here. Like it or not. You can either continue to rip on it, or you can make a difference by offering SUGGESTIONS, no make that SOLUTIONS, as to how to improve it. Saying take it off is not a suggestion. That is the easy way out and involves no thought.

You can either be an arm chair quarter back, or offer solutions. Which one will you be? I know that my employee pays me to offer solutions. Arm chair quarter bakcs are a dime a dozen.... basically makes you worthless. Offer solutions is where you benefit not only yourself, but the radio industry, and your employer.

Amen! These are the same people who would be complaining if terrestrial radio were doing absolutely nothing to stay competitive. Terrestrial radio is doing something to stay competitive by launching HD Radio and we get childish comments from armchair program directors. Can't have it both ways.
Edited by MRD on 01/19/06 02:55 PM.

Re: The story fits as well

The man is asking for suggestions, not criticism!
Herbert Dorfmeister was a character in a forgotten story I wrote as a kid.
Harley Davidson was not.
Neither was Hilary Duff.
______________
