It was good to hear it back on the air yesterday on it's new home at 790.

Cool. I was wondering where it went. On a related note, I've heard a few radios on 790 lately. I wonder if they will do any good in the book...

It will be interesting to see. The sports format had some of its better numbers in men 25-54 last fall, just before the flip. If classic country does well, it will be shortlived because an FM will then jump on it. On a related note, I have noticed Kix playing older stuff here lately and they make a big deal when they do it so listeners will notice.IMHO, WMC needs to find an identity and keep it. They are still running all their paid programming, including sports shows on weekends and some at night during the week. I understand the almighty dollar rules the corporate world, but pick a format and go with it. I also think the morning show is lame, just like it was when they were sports.

GK was on 790 for a number of years back in the day if I remember right... They approached the classic country launch in totally the wrong way. They are going to have to throw some money at it if they want it to throw some back.

From some I have talked with, there will be little or no promotion of the format, in the same style there was no promotion of the sports format. They knew they were getting out of the Tigers business, so it made no sense to keep doing what they were doing. The current format is cheaper to run and they can keep their bread and butter on weekends, namely the paid programming.Let's be honest, if classic country makes any decent showing in Memphis, there are a handful of struggling FMs that could start the format tomorrow and take every listener WMC has got.Still, it is nice to hear GK on the radio again. I hope it works out.
