Glenn Beck Back on GST

I think it's a good move although they won't find anyone who will really challenge Boortz. Glenn Beck's profile is higher now, and his sound is a little different from most talkers. Personally, I like Beck better on TV than radio because his facial expressions and little on-screen antics are sometimes entertaining.

I read an article about Beck in Broadcasting & Cable. When CNN called, he told them he didn't want to come to the interview. He said, "I'm a radio guy."

YESSSS!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D........I used to listen to Mike McConnel on the weekends, and thought "This guy should be on all week long" but after listening to hin during the week, I thought "Uhm, maybe just on the weekends"...GREAT MOVE!!!! Now I won't have to go to other stations on the net to get my Glen Beck fix!!

I agree also. I didn't listen too himmuch the first time but enjoy his TV show a lot. I thought McConnel was boiring. Good Move. I think GST is going to start sniffing a 2.0 real soon. Not bad when most naysayers said Polka was the best option for the frequency.

Glen Beck coming back? Thats gonna fix WGST? hmmm lemme see, Nope.. Wont do it.
It will take tons more signal to repair whats wrong with this station.

I didn't listen to him so much when he was first on. But after seeing him on CNN, my opinion has changed. I will listen to him this time. I would like him better than the dour-sounding, Britt Hume-sounding, other guy.

While his TV show is OK, I liked his radio show better the first time around. I remember some really funny produced bits.

Right after George W.'s "Shock and Awe" campaign in Iraq (2003) that phrase was the buzzwords among the pundits. Whoever produced his bits looped that phrase into the cadence of "I Feel for You" by Chaka Khan...

The rap intro by Melle Mel ...

"Shock and awe, I want to shock you, want to bomb you, shock and awe. Wanna bomb you thats all I wanna do ...."

Sort of hard to relate today, in print, but really funny at the time ... I hope he still has the same producer.

I think Beck gives people an option outside of Boortz...his entertaining highly produced show should be good contrast to Boortz. Don't read that Boortz is not entertaining...I really like his show. Beck is more produced...has a slick feel to it.

Beck is very phoney in his emotions. Boortz is very real in his. Beck has no depth. Boortz will tell you things you won't hear anywhere else. Beck will fit in great at GST.

This time, Beck will give Bootz some competition. I know a lot of people who would love to have an alternative program to listen to in the mornings.

Some people on this board kill me, criticizing EVERY move WGST makes. Let me ask these same people, if you were PD at WGST, who would you put up against Boortz? (I can hear the crickets now). You're in a no win situation going up against Boortz and WSB. At least Bloomquist is willing to give Beck another try, knowing that he may do better this time around because of his exposure on CNN. What does he have to lose? Certainly not ratings. I think it's a good move.
I would actually like too hear Laura Ingraham go against Boortz on 640. I know she goes against him on WGKA, but she might to better on WGST.
Also, any idea how Dave Ramsey is doing? I really like him. While I do miss the Kimmer, I think WGST made a good choice by putting Ramsey in that slot.

Ramsey was a great choice. Its a good change instead of hearing, get all the credit you can.. Dave says: Pay off your debt and stop getting more and more debt. I cant help the way I feel about GST. I just dont think they have what it takes to get the job done. IF and its a real big IF.. Clear Channel didnt own GST, then maybe someone could take it and make it roll, but those guys know corp radio only.

Hey, there's an idea. How about coughing up some bucks and putting a local guy on to compete with Boortz? Three qualifications: 1) Must be Conservative, 2) Must be in love with yourself and believe people hang onto your every word and 3) Must have been an errand boy for Marc Chase at one of his other failing stations.

I listen to Glenn Beck on XM, his radio show has changed a lot since he started on CNN. I think it has matured and he has matured. His show today was pretty scary re his evaluation of what is going on in Iran, but probably right on. I listen to him when Boortz is railing on ADD or ADHD, or going off on Christians, or some other crap that isn't important to me. If they give him a chance, I think he will do well.

Meanwhile, Beck still isn't cleared in Market No. 1 - where both his radio and TV show now originiate from!

I never understood why they got rid of him in the first place and then put a similar sounding local in his place. I'm looking forward to listening to him again when Boortz starts talking about planes.
