Glenn Beck Loses Another Flamethrower

KJCB said:
The advantage to FM is a consistent day/night signal (obviously a problem for AM unless your name is WLW, WKRC, or WCKY) and having greater nighttime listenership... they have a great opportunity and blow it with this guy. Ugh.

Cumulus' biggest problem - aside from, well, the station itself - is that the three stations you list are their direct competition. They're going up against the three AM powerhouses in the market, all run out of the same building. They gain little on FM, other than being on the "younger"-skewing band.

As to McConnell, the way I see it, he is always going to win. That's a good thing for local radio. Well, used to be. To my ears, Beck is a better counterprogram because its less preachy and less overtly political to the red meat on 'LW and now WSAI. But I understand that KRC's audience is more of an all-politics-all-the-time bunch, and if Ingraham works better they should have her.

And probably the biggest reason that station is programmed that way. 'LW doesn't feed conservative listeners much red meat, save for perhaps Willie Cunningham.

has anyone besides me noticed that Beck's show is not quite as good since he started his TV gig? It's been proven over and over again that it's hard to do both. It always works out that one gets the short end of the show prep stick.
