Glenn Beck Returns to the City that Gave Him His Start

  • Thread starter Corned Beef and Cabbage
  • Start date

That says something about how powerful Beck is when a tape-delayed talker bumps a live show like Savage...

Meanwhile, Beck still isn't carried in New York...

Beck is on in Salt Lake on KNRS - which is the CCU competitor against KSL and seems to do quite well. The new KTTH PD is from KSL (Rod Arquette) - clearly he didn't want to let KVI get Beck. His show is excellent. Hope Beck does well in Seattle...almost anything would be an improvement on the angry white-guy Savage has turned into.

Beck is terrific- and very adroitly manipulates the direction of his interviews. The man keeps his cool when under attack- and his guest's flameouts make him look that much smarter and more reasonable. I especially like the way he dealt w/Sharpton on the whole Mormon thing.

Agree about Savage. He is, for me at least, unlistenable.

I will chime in with the others...Glenn puts on a great show! Entertaining, funny, thought-provoking, all at the same time. IMHO, much more entertaining than Rush or O'Reilly!, plus puts out a chilling message that few are willing to even go near! Glad to see he will be heard in Seattle. A superstar in the making. Fully expect him on the cover of Time within a year.

Wow, I did not know that man was so popular, he’s a [EDIT] I suppose if your shtick is being a [EDIT], you’re bound to get ratings. Should make the KTTH P1’s happy.

Here are some Beck youtube high lights…

Expressing bigotry toward Muslims

Sexually Harassing a Guest…

hey, A_S,

you spent some time digging up these links and will probably spend a little more tuning in, won't you? That kinda' says it all:)

Yeah, I'm sure that I will be tuning into an arrogant, racist, sexist jerk! Count me in! I just love being insulted and TOLD what to think like 50% of our country does! ::) ::) ::)

formerraa, No, no, no! Beck is not racist, not sexist, but can come across as a jerk. But a "funny" jerk! I would advise listening to his show before believing some of the soundbites posted here. You gotta put them in context. Believe me, this guy has a message that is not being delivered by anyone in talkradio right now, and that is significant. Plus, he's damn funny. Seriously, I'm not a Rush conservative, consider myself to be quite moderate, but Beck makes sense. However, he is one of those talents you have to listen to for a few days to really "get". Give him a chance!

Googling accounts for Glenn Beck's listenership?

Glenn Beck is not the ratings powerhouse of Rush Limbaugh or even Sean Hannity on a national basis. However, he is a solid talent on the syndication stage. While irritating to some, he is probably more in line with Bonneville's philosophy than Michael Savage. The fact he has local ties makes it an even wiser move in a market filled with talk syndication. From a ratings point of view none of the conservative talk stations: (KTTH, KVI, KKOL et al) even approach the top 15 25-54 on a four book. These stations do not generate much revenue on a rep firm basis, but have a loyal following of advertisers and listeners locally. My bet is Beck will be more respected among that core. Either way, it won't create ratings or national business for KTTH.

The other thing that may be of signifcance here is, Glenn has changed and matured as a talk show host in the past half-decade. I remember hearing his show in 2001, and thought it was an annoying attempt to do an old Top40 morning zoo format on talk radio. Today, I hear an intelligent, thoughtful, funny, host who really has some concerns about where we are headed as a society. Listen, I'm not President of the Glenn fan club, I just enjoy his presentation, and again, he is saying things about our future that few others are. You don't have to agree, but kudos to Glenn for having the cojones to atleast bring it up.
