Glenn Beck to get Philly Clearance

Starting Monday, CC can claim that Beck's show has Philly clearance as his show will start airing weedays from 9a - 12noon on WILM in Wilmington. WILM's daytime signal reaches to about the Philly Airport, so that IS in Philly, but actually how many folks in the Philly market will be able to pick up Beck on WILM, I guess the employees at the airport and those folks living along I-95 between the airport and the Delaware State line.

So basically, this "clearance" of Glenn Beck in Philly is no different than that all-important clearance for the now-defunct Air America radio network in Philadelphia - which was actually located 70 miles away in Stroudsburg.

Actually, Air America did have clearance in Philly on WHAT for about a year.

Glenn Beck must be kidding us. He calls this a Philly radio station?
Note the Radio-info Coverage map: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WILM&service=AM&status=L&hours=U

I'm surprised he considers this a Philly radio station because he refused to go over to CC's
WYTS 1230 in Columbus, Ohio after they bumped him from WTVN 610, Columbus in favor of local programing in 2007:

WYTS 1230 dose a much better job of covering the Columbus radio market, then WIML dose in covering Philly radio market.

Before we blast Clear Channel, are they actually claiming that this counts as a Philly clearance? The OP just says they can, not that they actually are.

Beck got part of the Philly market, not all of it. WILM isn't going to equal WPHT's signal. Anyway, I thought Beck didn't like Philly in the first place. ???

WPHT is a 50kW blowtorch. WILM isn't and is in good company in that it doesn't provide the coverage of a BT. Then again WPHT is beat by KFI and other 50kW stations in the areas they cover.

Then Glenn is in good company. :p :D ;)

If CC were that serious about Beck and Hannity being cleared in this market, they'd have turned 106.1 or one of their other stations into an all-new "Rush Radio" (with or without Rush) by January 1.
