Glenn Beck's New GBTV Venture Not YouTube-Friendly?

As previously announced, Glenn Beck is starting up his own premium Internet service, GBTV, which will be $4.95 per month to subscribers.

The interesting part is that the technology will be handled by MLB Advanced Media. You may be familiar with that name if you've ever searched YouTube for a clip of a recent baseball game, only to be greeted by a message that the clip's been removed "due to a copyright claim by MLB Advanced Media." I'm guessing that GBTV clips will probably be immune to YouTube upload long-term.

Old cable TV chat show hosts don't die, they just fade away into Internet oblivion.

Rush's website is actually a limited extension of his radio show; Beck will be having all new video content. The only video Rush has is the Dittocam simulcasting his radio show - okay, that, and reruns of his now-defunct television show from the 1990's.

So MLB will be enforcing copyright and not allow YouTube to show pirated premium content. I'm so shocked. ::) :p :D ;)

Most of Glenn's stuff is already on the History Channel

If he can actually get enough paid subscribers (a debatable proposition, I grant you)
he may actually be at the leading edge of the death of television.

Why pay for a cable or dish package if you can just subscribe to the individual web
streams that you like?

Only pay for what you want? Why, that sounds like à la carte cable to me!
