I didn't really care for Glenn (putting it nicely) in the early parts of the season, but I find now I really do prefer him to Dave O'Brien. I know he doesn't have a great radio voice, and he still sounds too excited to be there, but he's kind of grown on me. Definitely not what a Boston Red Sox announcer should be... but I find O'Brien to be WAY too generic. At least Geffner has personality. Anyone else?

I like O'Brien's voice better--a bit deeper, more authoritative (heck, he called Bonds' historic
home runs). Geffner talks too much and too fast. Last night's routine about the mice loose
at Tropicana Park in Tampa Bay was OK for a few moments but really got to be amateur
hour after awhile. yes, Sox were comfortably ahead, etc., but it sounded like A or AA level
minor league coverage with Goofner in there.

Geffner is something different from the typical annoucner, like you said, and I think thats why he is growing on people.

O'Brien, well, calling ESPN games he really has to be somewhat generic, and I think he is having trouble differentiating. My thoughts are maybe O'Brien can leave ESPN last year, but wanted to start calling games this year?

o'brien gets on my nerves...calling curveballs "yakkers", "sawing and a fahoul outta play", mumbling through mike lowell's last name....i know it's being nitpicky, but it makes me change the dial during the game just because i get so irritated, I'm not alone on this either. I like dave on tv, I think he does a great job, but he just sounds very odd and out of place on the radio
