GlennO, Where Are You?

One of my Facebook friends reported yesterday that you were no longer at WBMW. Is this true?

Bummer, and right after the previous morning co-host left, too... No doubt you will land on your feet soon!

I'll just be doing more of the non-radio work I've been doing all along. Rebecca & I did have a good thing going in the morning. Thanks for the good wishes.

I actually had an idea that perhaps your radio career could come full circle, and you'd return to WDRC-FM - that's in they are up to welcoming you back, of course... Then there is also the possibility of working at the oldies station a little closer to your neck of the woods, KOOL 101. It's a plus that their airstaff, for the most part, has remain virtually unchanged since they launched exactly ten years ago... which could lead to a negative in that perhaps there may not be room for another jock at this time - and even if there is, you might need to change your name, as they already have an afternoon jock named O'Brien (as in Dan)!

I thought of the idea of Glenn going back to DRC-FM, but the question is where. Mornings replacing JK and Mike Stevens. He won't be able to go back to his old nite shift unless PD Grahame Winters would be willing to give it up. If were up to me I'd get rid of Larry Wells in PM Drive. I don't care for him as a jock. Never have. And you're talking to a long time DRC-FM fan.

Grahame is extremely loyal to her people at DRC-FM, and vice versa. Mike Stevens was very good to me when he was my PD, so the last thing I'd want to do is take his job! Jerry K and I didn't mesh as a morning team in 1996 partly because of the circumstances through which I was brought in, but I respect his integrity and work ethic. Larry's one of my favorite people in the business; the cornball humor is part of his charm. I never worked with Floyd, but I enjoy listening to the pro he is. Some good people have been let go in several waves of downsizing there. I'm proud of my eight-plus years at a heritage station I grew up listening to, but the last thing I care to contribute to is more radio musical chairs.

Jim Reed at Kool 101 is a great guy, but again the jobs aren't exactly opening up left and right at WBMW's competitors at Hall and Citadel. "Glenn & Rebecca" were well received in eastern CT, and I would welcome the chance to bring good chemistry like that to the airwaves again.

Radio exits are seldom easy, but I'm at peace with it knowing the mutual respect Red Wolf's VP/Programming Brian Ram and I have for each other. He's done an awesome job. Owner John Fuller was not thrilled about this departure either. I'll leave the door open - as they requested - and move on. I hope that puts things in perspective. Thanks for the opportunity to do that.

Looks like they have a whole new morning show in place down at WBMW now. I remember Shawn Murphy on the competitor, Q105 for a long time, but he was also up here doing 96.5 TIC (if I remember correctly). Theresa Berry has been on WBMW for a while already, but I also think she did some stuff up here (Hartford) as well. Well, at least "somebody's" finding work in radio.

I wouldn't really say anyone's finding work, but holding onto it. Theresa was shifted from PM Drive to AM Drive, they moved Shawn Murphy from weekends to PM Drive for a week or so, then moved him to AM Drive last week. As for PM Drive, The Law of Conservation of Personalities holds strong at Red Wolf, it's being 'tracked by one of the dudes up at WTNN (Eagle Country 97.5)
