Global sacked by CTV, Rogers

If the sale of the A-Channels to Rogers goes through, then they likely will end up showing some games as well, particularly since OMNI.2 doesn't have as wide a reach as the A-Channel system. This won't be a first for OMNI Television - CFMT showed some NFL games back in the early 90s.

I would also not be surprised to see CH lose the rights to PGA golf, although that very well might end up on Global in place of the NFL.

Some Global stations show PGA now...I've seen it on CITV.

Global isn't too worried about losing NFL.
They poured alot of money into the purchase of Alliance Atlantis.

I'm not saying that's the reason for the loss, but from what I can see, it would seem they intend to be a reliable source of Entertainment programming in the future, rather than sports.

Is Global's cancellation of their 30 minute 11:30 sports news program any indication?
In its place is a rebroadcast of Entertainment Tonight Canada.

It'll be interesting to see what Global does when E! is offically launched.
(it's their sister station...)

The cancellation of Sportsline/Sportspage in various parts of the country has nothing to do with it.

The only real interesting thing here is that it's CTV and Sportsnet winning the bidding for it, and not CTV and TSN -- considering the corporate unity there.

The cancellation of Sportsline was the first indicator that they're cutting back sports content.
Wether that has anything to do with this or not, it's still a valid point that they chose to be involved a little less in sports content.

The CTV/Rogers(sportsnet) connection is no surprise.
They've been teamwork ever since the winning Olympic coverage bid for 2010...I thought?
