Globe: Howie Carr okay after Wellesley accident

http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/wellesley/2009/09/boston_herald_columnist_howie.html

>>the 57-year-old scribe and WRKO talk-show host was driving south on Wellesley Avenue, between Oakland and Forest streets, when his 2004 Acura suddenly crossed into the oncoming lane, hit a curb, and slammed into a telephone pole.

Howie refused medical treatment, got a marked lanes violation, and car was towed (pole split in half). I would expect a lot of "Car/Carr" puns and big shoe references on the show today (The Car that Drives Carr Home...
got into a bit of a fender bender...)

no sign of article yet in Herald about it

maybe the car was going to far left and howie made it go too far right....

Speculation on Free Republic has Howie losing control after trying to dip fried clams in "tar-tar" sauce.
But...who eats fried clams on a Sunday morning....?

I doubt he was texting...
Too busy changing stations on his "magic (satellite) radio"?

There must have been something going on for Howie to have that accident. The stretch of road is curvy, but you would have to be flying or have a mechanical failure to cross a lane and hit a tree.

accident undoubtedly caused by:

illegal aliens
moonbats
Obama

karma is a bitch...it'd be refreshing to learn that mr.grumpy reaped some by not being a perfect human being.

Yes about 6:35 or so he started to read the Globe story and he took a few calls about it though he also did another topic. As soon as the jokes started to come about the big shoe or fried clams he said, "I knew it--this is why I waited till now to talk about it. Now there will be a bunch of calls on the Chump Line tomorrow about it."

Readers of the Globe's site and people on Free Republic were aware of the situation before Howie's show. Howie explained that it was probably bald tires and a slick road that caused it. He noted that the Globe reporter had
asked if alcohol was involved "and I bet they were disappointed it wasn't". When someone brought up fried
clams he said, "it was 8:30 on a Sunday morning, who's eating fried clams then?" The bit about the "marked
lanes violation: 'it was a warning,' says Howie.

Howie's Acura will be in the shop for a couple weeks; as I noted; Howie Carr is fine, Howie's car...not so fine.

>>Everyone elses' life is open for ridicule....but not his own.

public figure, fair game--though of course a certain John Donald Imus made fun of Howie's wife who wasn't a public figure and with some help from Dershowitz there was a settlement that paid Howie enough money to buy a Florida condo, IIRC.

It was a pole Howie hit, not a tree.

The roads were a bit slick on Sunday morning. About 11:15 am I was on the stretch of Loring Ave. in Salem near
SSC South Campus, Leggs Hill Rd, etc. and I was going a bit fast for the curve and hydroplaned a bit (or
skidded). Made out okay.

Now THAT'S karma! (how's Rush doing?)

Bald tires and a 2004 Acura? What a cheap bastard.

He had to have been well over the speed limit or those tires had no tread.

My thoughts exactly! Why can't Howie lease himself a newer car than an '04?
