Glory Communications CP in Columbia

from the "other" site:

Glory Communications has applied to shift its 95.9 W240AX Columbia, SC to 96.1. The translator rebroadcasts Gospel “Praise Radio 1470” WQXL.

My question is why? The 95.9 signal got out pretty good all over town in my opinion.

That was my question as well.

He proposes to move the translator off of the AM 620/1470 towers in Cayce almost back to where the translator was orginally. It started off on a tower on Shakespeare Road. His proposal has it on the WZRB tower on Covenant.

Much more than on 95.9.

I am wondering whether this is a compensated change that will allow Clear Channel to change frequencies on one of their pending translator CPs.

I am sure Clear Channel is dying to put a sports 560 on FM.

That would mean FOUR sports FM's in Columbia. With so many other formats missing in Columbia, why would they do this?

Because AM 560 is sadly now a big waste of electricty. I can't imagine they sell enough ads to make the transmitter power bill let alone the lease on the land...

Sumter's WIBZ 95.5 gives 95.9 a fit east of Columbia. 98.3 in Summerton is also Glory Communications so no problem in coverage in Sumter.

The translator is carrying WQXL rather than the main gospel programming of WFMV.

In Northeast Columbia 95.9 comes in very well.

No problem where I live either.

Now that what was one of my favorite stations went Spanish.

Although when I go to the beach it would be nice to have less interference.
