GLORY DAZE - TBS

This was one of the funniest new shows I've seen this season.

They did a very good job of capturing college life of 1986.....complete with music of the era.

But, in one scene the professor makes a joke on a student and then says BURN. That's a now thing.
Plus, the campus police used a taser on one guy. Did they even have tasers in 1986?

Other than that it was a pretty good show. Tuesdays 10PM TBS (I'm sure they will re-run it, maybe this weekend).

Just checked since I missed it...it will rerun late Fri/early Sat at 12:10 as well as late Sat/early Sun at 11:55. Looking very forward to this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taser

Jack Cover, a NASA researcher, began developing the Taser in 1969. By 1974, Cover had completed the device, which he named after his childhood hero Tom Swift. The Taser Public Defender used gunpowder as its propellant, which led the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to classify it as a firearm in 1976. In 1991, a Taser supplied by Tasertron to the Los Angeles Police Department failed to subdue Rodney King. Its lack of effectiveness was blamed on a faulty battery...

So, clearly, the Taser has been around the block well before the "Don't Tase Me, Bro" guy went viral...

So, is this show kinda like a "That 70's Show" for the 80's? Fox actually aired a sequel program called "That 80's Show." Didn't last. You may recall the "It's a cell phone!" promos for the show...

All I can say is I don't remember any police using tasers in 1986. However, I think it may have been a stun gun, instead on the show.

That 80's show sucked. This show has good actors and scripts. If that 80's show had what Glory Daze has it would have lasted.

I remember that show. They should have waited after "That 70's Show" ended before using the "That 80's Show" name. That must be why the year 1979 lasted three or four seasons in the show because they couldn't carry the same characters over to the '80s title.
