GM, GSM out at NextMedia - Wilmington

Don't know if this made it to AllAccess yet, but it looks like NextMedia-Wilmington's Bea Raybourne (GM) and Gayle Brown (Sales Manager) "resigned" earlier this week. The GSM of NextMedia's Myrtle Beach cluster is up there now, running the show.

Anybody know what happened?

That is not at all the case

The GM and GSM are long time friends....and decided to start their own business together.

This business will have some conflicts of interest...so a mutal agreement led to them leaving as of Monday

I hardly believe NextMedia is a thankless company....at least in my case it is far from the truth.

Ha! It might be that someone was asked to fire someone and refused. That could be why they left together.
"Conflict of interest"? silly, that doesn't stand in the way of revenue.

Look for some big news at the first of the year regarding one of the Wilmington next media stations....BIG NEWS!!!

"Big News"? They'll have new management! Any word on New Bern, with the new regime?

From what I know of the two of them, this theory would make sense. It is true that Ms. Raybourne and Mrs. Brown are great friends. It is also true that budgets weren't being hit the way the big wigs at Next would've liked. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Raybourne was asked to fire Brown and refused. From what I hear, they are that tight.

The Myrtle Beach Clown has struck again. Seems that some sales people, oh I mean, Account Executives got quite a shave today at Next Media in New Bern. I bet the clown didn't lose any hair though. Might the change in Wilmington and the shave in New Bern be related?

How could they be?

To answer Mr Vedder: it's called cost cutting no GM or GSM salaries for a few months, AE's making less money = more money to the bottom line, the old cash flow thing.

To answer mypunkromance: why not? That's what anonymous boards are for: to poke at people and institutions that are holier than thou...like you. And how do you know we don't work there?

"Unless you all work at either of these groups, you really shouldn't comment."

Dear Punk, I take it you work at one of these places and you know all. Why don't you enlighten us.

I'm amazed that the two CHRs in the market can't seem to afford a morning show. Who made the decision to put Ace and TJ on? Did they even check out how Hot did with them? I believe they pulled a whopping 1.5 share.

Well Ace and TJ suck too. They just suck cheaper than a local morning show. :-*

With all the Shake ups at Next, Mark McKinney has obviously had enough of the musical chairs and will be going back to TriCities Tennessee to start the new year fixing the problems at his old station, which never found a replacement for him when he left over 2 years ago. Best of Luck to Mark.
