GMAZ Weekend Edition

Olivia, Courtney, and April were pretty good this morning. April does a lot better than Sue Breding with the weather. Courtney and Olivia should be the permanent news anchor and host of GMAZ weekend. They work well together and having two women "feels" right for this show.

I was out of town this weekend and missed the shows. What I saw last weekend was the April is a talented anchor/reporter. When she did weather reports from the field she did a great job. She does not have the stand at the green board and talk about the weather routine down. She stares at the offscreen monitors too much and does not transition smoothly from the right to the left side of the screen (moves to left and instead of looking at the right off screen monitor looks over her sholder at the left off screen monitor). Royal has taught her what she needs to know and who to call at NWS to get answers but she really has a limited knowledge of weather.

Yeah, I wasn't home on Sat or Sun evening to see the later newscasts. She did fine from the field, which is fine for the weekend am weather forecaster. Typically, not much is happening then!

However, it sure would be nice to have a qualified meteorologist around on weekend pm newscasts.
 
April last worked at...

I just found out that April was working in Spokane at KXLY (freelancing) before coming to 3-TV. It also seems that the KXLY News Director also left and she is now an executive producer at 3-TV. Package deal?

Here is the back story...as I've said before...easy to get info out of her former co-workers in Medford...anyway, according to her former co-workers, April wanted to get a job in Spokane WA in order to be with her boyfriend...he is a sports guy and used to work at the same Medford station before going to Spokane (he works for the Belo station in Spokane).
April could not get a fulltime job in Spokane and had to settle for freelence work...despite several fulltime openings in the Spokane market during her job search. As I am told...the reason April did the weather a few times at her Medford station was in an effort to land a weather / reporter job in Spokane.
